Summary
See more specification See less specification
The Elta PIV ONE is a loft mounted whole house positive input ventilation unit. It supplies fresh, filtered air to the central hallway or landing at up to 216 m³/h (60 l/s) at 100 Pa, diluting, displacing and replacing stale, humid air to cure condensation and mould and reduce radon gas concentration. This model has no heater.
Double filtration is standard: a washable magnetic pre-filter that comes off without tools, and an ISO Coarse 60% (G4) primary filter, upgradeable to an IAQ filter for PM2.5 diesel particulates. Its EC motor draws 24W, Elta quote 27 dB(A) at 3m, the casing has acoustic foam lining and it carries a 5 year warranty.
- Up to 216 m³/h
- Unheated
- Double filtration as standard
What it is best used for
Houses and bungalows with a loft that suffer from condensation, black mould and stale air, typical in rented homes and older properties, and homes where radon needs diluting. It is pre-wired for two speeds from a remote switch, with factory settings of 104 m³/h (29 l/s) and 216 m³/h (60 l/s).
It needs a loft above the central landing, so flats without a loft should use a wall mounted unit such as the SANO IPIV WALL H. Without a heater, the incoming air is not tempered, which some occupants notice as a draught in winter.
Why choose this over alternatives
The PIV ONE is the simplest model in Elta's loft PIV range: no heater to run, the highest airflow of the loft units at up to 216 m³/h, and filtration that can be upgraded for homes near main roads. If the occupants are likely to feel the incoming air as cool, the PIV ONE PLUS+ adds a built-in heater on the same platform.
The SANO IPIV LOFT H is the alternative for installers who want intelligent temperature and humidity regulation (ECO-LoFlo) and summer standby; for homes without a loft, see the SANO IPIV WALL H.
Installation notes
- Mount the unit horizontally on the loft floor or the underside of the roof structure, on a flat surface that will take its weight; anti-vibration mounts (not supplied) are recommended.
- Fit the ceiling diffuser centrally on the top floor hallway or landing. Near a smoke alarm, fit the supplied blanking plates so air does not blow across it.
- In homes of 3 storeys or more, interlock the unit with the smoke alarm so it powers down when the alarm sounds; the standard diffuser is not suitable for 3 storey or higher homes or fire protected areas.
- Leave access to the filters and terminal box, and provide an omnipolar isolating switch. Installation by an authorised installer.
- Clean the pre-filter and G4 filter with a vacuum cleaner; Elta advise replacing the filters every year, depending on conditions.

What does the Elta PIV ONE do?
It supplies fresh, filtered air from the loft into the home, diluting and replacing stale, humid air to cure condensation and mould and reduce radon concentration.
Does the PIV ONE have a heater?
No. It is the unheated model. The PIV ONE PLUS+ and SANO IPIV LOFT H both have a built-in heater.
How much air does the PIV ONE supply?
Up to 216 m³/h (60 l/s) at 100 Pa. It leaves the factory set to 104 m³/h and 216 m³/h on two speeds.
What filters does it use?
A washable magnetic pre-filter and an ISO Coarse 60% (G4) filter, upgradeable to an IAQ filter for PM2.5 diesel particulates.
Will a PIV unit cure condensation and mould?
PIV gently pressurises the home with filtered fresh air, diluting and displacing humid air, which is why Elta describe it as curing condensation and mould problems.
Can a loft PIV unit go in a 3 storey house?
Elta say a unit in a home of 3 storeys or more must be linked to the smoke alarm so it powers down when the alarm sounds, and their standard diffuser is not suitable for 3 storey or higher homes or fire protected areas, so ask us before specifying one.
