Deflection grilles have adjustable blades that let you direct supply air where it is needed and control how far it throws. We stock single deflection grilles with one row of adjustable blades and double deflection grilles with two rows set at 90 degrees, both in aluminium with up to 80% free area, for internal supply and extract, in ten sizes from 150mm to 600mm square. Frequently asked questions

Single or double deflection grille?

A single deflection grille has one row of adjustable blades, so you can direct the air in one plane, up and down or side to side. A double deflection grille has a second row at 90 degrees, so you can steer the air both horizontally and vertically, which gives more control over throw and spread, for example on a long throw from a high wall.

Supply or extract?

Both. Deflection grilles are most useful on supply air, where the blades direct the air away from people to avoid draughts, but they also work on extract and return.

What sizes are available?

Ten square sizes: 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400, 450, 500, 550 and 600mm. We can also make them to order in other sizes and in any RAL colour.

What free area do they have?

Up to 80%, depending on how the blades are set. Closing the blades down reduces the free area and increases resistance and noise, so size the grille with the blades at their normal working angle.

Can deflection grilles be used outside?

No, they are for internal use. For an external wall opening, use a weather louvre.

Deflection grille or ceiling diffuser?

For supply air from a ceiling into an occupied space, a ceiling diffuser usually gives a more even spread. Deflection grilles suit high wall and bulkhead positions where the air needs to be thrown across the room.
