Air Valve Fire Damper
1 product
Fire damper air valves combine extract ventilation with passive fire protection in a single terminal unit — making them the standard solution for bathroom, kitchen, and utility exhaust points in apartments and multi-occupancy buildings where ductwork penetrates fire-compartment boundaries.
Unlike a standard extract valve, a fire rated version automatically seals shut when temperatures reach 72°C, blocking the spread of fire and smoke through the ventilation system. Our range includes products from FlaktWoods, CE marked to EN 15650:2010 and tested to EN 1366-2 — suitable for compliance with Approved Document B (UK Building Regulations).
Available in 100mm, 125mm, and 150mm. In stock with next working day delivery available.
What is a fire damper air valve?
A fire damper air valve is a ventilation terminal — fitted at the duct opening in a ceiling or wall — that functions as both an extract air valve and a fire damper. An intumescent material or thermal fuse seals the opening automatically in a fire, stopping flames and smoke from spreading through the ductwork between rooms or flats.
What's the difference between a fire damper and a fire damper air valve?
A standard fire damper sits inside the duct run, typically where it passes through a fire-rated wall or floor. A fire damper air valve is a terminal device at the end of the duct. It combines the extract grille with fire protection in one unit — faster to install and ideal for domestic and light commercial exhaust points.
Are these suitable for bathrooms in apartments?
Yes — fire rated air valves are the standard specification for bathroom and kitchen exhaust terminations in flats and multi-occupancy buildings, where building regulations require passive fire protection where ducts cross fire-compartment boundaries.
Can they replace an existing extract valve?
In most cases yes. Products in this range are available in standard duct sizes (100mm, 125mm, 150mm) and are designed for retrofit as well as new build.
