An air valve with a fire damper is an exhaust valve and a fire damper in one unit, used where an extract duct passes through a fire resisting ceiling or wall. We stock the FläktWoods KSOF, CE marked to EN 15650:2010 and tested to EN 1366-2, in 100mm, 125mm and 150mm. A spring loaded fusible link closes the valve at 70°C, and it gives E45 to E120 depending on how it is installed. It comes with its KKT mounting ring. What is an air valve fire damper?
An extract air valve that also acts as a fire damper. In normal use it works like any adjustable exhaust valve. If the air reaches 70°C the fusible link releases and a spring closes the valve, stopping fire and smoke from spreading into the duct system.
What fire rating does it give?
The KSOF is classified from E45 to E120 to EN 13501-3, depending on the installation. The rating achieved depends on the construction it is fitted into and how it is installed, so check the datasheet against your fire strategy before ordering.
Can it be used for supply air?
No. The KSOF is an exhaust valve, designed for extract ventilation.
What sizes and airflows are available?
100mm, 125mm and 150mm, with airflows from 122 to 288 m³/h depending on size at a sound level of 30 dB(A). It is suitable for horizontal and vertical ducting.
How is it installed?
The valve is supplied with its spring loaded fuse and screws into the KKT mounting ring, with the lugs locating in the ring. It should be installed by a competent installer in line with the building fire strategy and the manufacturer's instructions.
Does it need inspecting?
Yes. Like any fire damper it should be included in the building's fire damper inspection regime and checked in line with the manufacturer's instructions, so you know it will close when needed.
