Frequently asked questions
Where do I need a duct access door?
Fit one wherever the duct or a component in it will need inspecting or cleaning: next to fire dampers so they can be tested, beside filters and coils, at intervals along kitchen extract ductwork, and either side of anything that may need replacing. Make sure the door can be reached once the ceiling is closed up.
Square tabbed or spiral duct door?
Square tabbed doors fit flat duct surfaces, such as rectangular ductwork, and come in sizes from 150 x 150mm to 600 x 600mm. Spiral duct doors are curved to fit round duct: the 180 x 80mm door suits 100mm and 125mm duct, the 250 x 150mm door suits 150mm duct, and the 400 x 300mm door suits 400mm duct.
How are they fitted?
Cut an opening in the duct to suit the door, then fit the door through it. The tabbed design locks in place with cams, so no sealant, screws or rivets are needed.
What pressure are they rated for?
They suit low, medium and high pressure systems up to 2000Pa positive and conform to BESA DW142.
