Summary
See more specification See less specification
The Elta SH125-1LC is a 125mm Hideaway SH low profile acoustic box fan, built for ducted extract or supply where the ceiling void is too shallow for a standard box fan. It moves up to 277 m³/h in free air and 216 m³/h at 100 Pa, and Elta's published table runs out at 200 Pa, where airflow has fallen to 72 m³/h.
A single phase EC motor (220-240V 50/60Hz) drives a jet design double mixed flow impeller at up to 5000 rpm, drawing 27 W at best efficiency (0.25 A peak). An integrated commissioning control sets a single speed or a maximum speed, and the fan also accepts a potentiometer, 0-10V or PWM signal. The 1.2mm galvanised steel casing has a Class O fire rated acoustic lining and a removable lid, the motor is IPX4 with sealed for life bearings, and Elta give a 12 month warranty.

- EC Motor
- Up to 277 m³/h
- Speed Controllable
What it is best used for
Bathroom, shower room and small kitchen extract on 125mm duct in apartments, hotel bedrooms and residential refurbishments where the void above the ceiling is shallow. At 100 Pa it moves 216 m³/h, roughly 10 air changes an hour in a space of about 20 m³.
Elta's figures stop at 200 Pa and airflow falls away quickly above 100 Pa, so it is not the fan for long runs with filters and heater batteries; the Singleflow SSDL box fan holds its airflow to 500 Pa. It is not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres, and air must stay between -20°C and +60°C.
Why choose this over alternatives
The Hideaway is the low profile option. Compared with the Elta SSDL125-1EC Singleflow box fan for the same 125mm duct, it gives 216 against 547 m³/h at 100 Pa and 72 against 493 m³/h at 200 Pa, so choose the Hideaway when void depth is the constraint and the SSDL when you need more pressure.
If you need more air, the Elta SH150-1LC moves 450 m³/h at 100 Pa. On a smaller duct the Elta SH100-1LC gives 155 m³/h at 100 Pa. Its specific fan power is 0.44 W/(L/s) at 100 Pa, which helps with Part L compliance.
Installation notes
- Mount it at any angle, adequately supported, and leave access to the removable lid for cleaning and maintenance.
- The circular spigots take 125mm duct directly; secure each joint with an Elta 018-125-CLAMP fast clamp, and check the airflow direction arrow before fixing.
- The fan comes with a 1m flying lead. Wire to Elta diagram 152-554 and fit a local means of isolation as the wiring regulations require.
- Speed is set on the built-in commissioning potentiometer. To use an external potentiometer or a 0-10V signal, remove the jumper link and connect to ST1; the commissioning setting then caps the maximum speed.
- Site the discharge so exhaust cannot be drawn back into a room through the open flue of a gas or fuel burning appliance, and inspect the fan at least every 12 months.
You'll also need
- Elta EC electronic controller 149-POT-10-MI (the potentiometer controller Elta list for every Hideaway SH)
- Elta fast clamps 018-125-CLAMP and backdraught damper 018-125-DAMPER available to order, ask us
- Elta panel filter 018-0125-FILT-P and heater battery 018-CV12-12-1M for supply duties available to order, ask us

How much air does the Elta SH125-1LC move?
Up to 277 m³/h in free air at full speed, 216 m³/h at 100 Pa and 72 m³/h at 200 Pa.
How do I control the speed?
The built-in commissioning potentiometer sets a single speed or a maximum speed. For user control, Elta list the 149-POT-10-MI EC controller, which we stock, or you can feed a 0-10V or PWM signal after removing the jumper link.
How quiet is it?
At full speed Elta quote 47 dB(A) at the inlet, 48 dB(A) at the outlet and 36 dB(A) breakout at 3m. Turned down to 7.5V the inlet figure drops to 43 dB(A).
What makes it low profile?
The Hideaway casing is redesigned to be slimmer than a standard box fan so it fits very shallow ceiling voids, and Elta say the new casing also improves airflow and lowers specific fan power. Check the exact casing dimensions on Elta's dimensional drawing against your void.
Can it be mounted on its side or outside?
It can be mounted at any angle. The motor is IPX4 and Elta's current datasheet rates the Hideaway SH as suitable for external mounting, with air from -20°C to +60°C.
What power supply does it need?
A single phase 220 to 240V 50/60Hz supply. Peak current is 0.25 A and it is supplied with a 1m flying lead for wiring by a qualified electrician (Elta diagram 152-554).
