The Elta SANO Intelligent PIV LOFT H is a loft mounted whole house positive input ventilation unit with an intelligent multicore heater. The installer picks one of eight unit settings from 17 to 45 l/s (up to 162 m³/h), and integral temperature and humidity sensors then regulate the airflow automatically.
Elta's ECO-LoFlo control reduces airflow when cold incoming air is dry, never below 50% of normal, to cut heating demand. The heater tempers incoming air to a selectable 10°C to 20°C, a very large G4 filter gives indicative change intervals of 5 to 10 years, power is 2.0 to 6.5W without the heater, and it carries a 5 year warranty.

What it is best used for
Houses and bungalows with a loft suffering from condensation dampness and mould, and properties where radon needs controlling, with summer standby able to be disabled for continuous radon running. The eight settings let the installer match the airflow to the size, layout and moisture load of the home.
It needs a ventilated loft that is not shared with a neighbouring property, so it does not suit terraces with open lofts or flats; use the SANO IPIV WALL H where there is no loft. The heater raises power use considerably when it operates.
Why choose this over alternatives
Against the PIV ONE PLUS+, the SANO has a lower maximum airflow but its fan draws only 2.0 to 6.5W without the heater (the PIV ONE fan is rated 24W), a longer life G4 filter and ECO-LoFlo moisture based control, with Heat Recovery or Comfort Control modes and summer standby. Optional PIV B and PIV B+H switches add user boost and heater control.
For homes without a loft, the SANO IPIV WALL H brings the same ECO-LoFlo and heater technology to an external wall.
Installation notes
- Commission the unit before installing it in the loft, and check the loft is adequately ventilated and not open to a neighbouring loft.
- Hang the unit with the supplied suspension kit or fix it to the joists, keeping at least 150mm clear all round, including below, and keep loft insulation away from the unit.
- Fit the diffuser centrally on the top floor hallway or landing ceiling, with the blanking plates near a smoke alarm; interlock with the smoke alarm in homes of 3 storeys or more.
- Terminate the pre-wired power cable to a suitable unswitched fused spur, and earth the unit.
- Check filters annually and replace at the interval for the chosen setting.

What is the SANO IPIV LOFT H?
A loft mounted whole house PIV unit with a built-in heater, using the PIV principle to cure condensation and mould while tempering the incoming air.
How much air does the SANO IPIV LOFT H supply?
Eight installer settings from 17 to 45 l/s, so up to 162 m³/h. The default is 29 l/s.
What is ECO-LoFlo?
When incoming air is below 10°C, the unit checks how dry it is and reduces airflow in proportion, never below 50% of normal, to save heating while still controlling humidity.
How often does the filter need changing?
Elta give an indicative interval of 5 to 10 years depending on the unit setting. High pollution and frequent boost shorten it.
Will a PIV unit cure condensation and mould?
PIV gently pressurises the home with filtered fresh air, diluting and displacing humid air, which is why Elta describe it as curing condensation and mould problems.
Can a loft PIV unit go in a 3 storey house?
Elta say a unit in a home of 3 storeys or more must be linked to the smoke alarm so it powers down when the alarm sounds, and their standard diffuser is not suitable for 3 storey or higher homes or fire protected areas, so ask us before specifying one.
