Summary

The Elta FLUX dMEV 100 is a continuous running decentralised extract fan (dMEV) for bathrooms, toilets and other wet rooms. It trickles at as little as 18 m³/h (5 l/s) and boosts to 90 m³/h (25 l/s) when mounted through the wall, with a built in humidistat and intelligent run-on timer deciding when to speed up.
Its single phase EC brushless motor draws from 1.0 W to 5.8 W and runs on ball bearings with integral thermal protection. It mounts on a wall, ceiling or window (window kit needed), is IPX4 on a wall and IPX2 on a ceiling, has a tool free removable front cover and carries a 5 year Elta warranty.
- 1 Phase
- EC Motor
- Up to 90 m³/h
- Speed Controllable
What it is best used for
Bathrooms, en suites, WCs and utility rooms in new build and refurbished homes, flats and student or social housing where a continuously running extract fan is specified for Part F. Elta estimate it costs £2 to £3 a year to run around the clock (June 2023 prices), so it suits landlords who need ventilation that tenants do not switch off.
It is designed for clean air only, so it is not for cooker hoods, grease or fume extract, and it must not discharge into a flue or hot air duct. When it is ducted from a ceiling the boost speed is limited to 72 m³/h, so for a large or busy bathroom with a long duct run look at a 150mm unit.
Why choose this over alternatives
An intermittent bathroom fan only clears moisture while the light is on. The FLUX dMEV runs constantly at a quiet trickle and steps up on its own when the humidistat sees a sharp rise above 65% humidity, so condensation is dealt with even when nobody remembers the switch. The run-on timer scales from 5 to 15 minutes depending on how long the room was used, and an optional constant flow mode speeds the fan up against long ducts or windy conditions.
For larger wet rooms on 150mm ducting, the Elta DEXA dMEV 150 is the continuous running option in the bigger size.
Installation notes
- Mount on a wall, ceiling or window into a 99mm duct or opening. Window mounting needs a window kit. Through the wall it discharges direct to outside, from a ceiling or internal wall it is ducted.
- Set the installation type and the minimum and intermediate speeds on dip switch A before powering up (minimum 0 to 58 m³/h, intermediate 29 to 72 m³/h). Dip switch B enables constant flow and can disable the humidistat or timer.
- Wire L, N and an optional switched live (LS) for boost, for example from the light switch. Do not over tighten the PCB terminals (maximum 0.15 Nm) and fit an omnipolar isolator with at least 3mm contact separation.
- In a room with an open flued fuel burning appliance, make sure there is enough make up air. Ensure there is an air return path into the room, such as a door undercut.
- Leave it running continuously. Clean the front cover and blades periodically with the power isolated.

What is a dMEV fan?
Decentralised mechanical extract ventilation: a single room fan that runs continuously at a low trickle and boosts when needed, instead of switching on and off with the light.
How much air does the FLUX dMEV 100 extract?
From 18 m³/h (5 l/s) on its lowest default trickle up to 90 m³/h (25 l/s) boost through a wall, or 72 m³/h (20 l/s) when ducted from a ceiling or internal wall.
How does the humidity sensor work?
It runs in automatic mode and triggers when humidity rises sharply and is above 65%. The fan then runs at intermediate speed until 5 minutes after the humidity has settled.
Can it boost from the light switch?
Yes. Wire the switched live (LS) terminal to the light switch or a separate boost switch. If the switch was on for less than 3 minutes the fan does not run on, which keeps it quiet at night.
How much does it cost to run?
Elta estimate £2 to £3 a year under normal conditions at June 2023 electricity prices. Power draw is 1.0 W to 5.8 W.
Can it go in a ceiling?
Yes. It mounts on a wall, ceiling or window. On a ceiling it is IPX2 rated rather than IPX4, so check the bathroom zone, and boost is limited to 72 m³/h for ducted runs.
