Summary

The Elta DEXA dMEV 150 is a 150mm continuous running decentralised extract fan for bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms. It trickles all day from 5 l/s (18 m³/h) and boosts up to 50 l/s (180 m³/h) automatically on humidity or its intelligent run-on timer. It replaces the FLUX dMEV range.

The EC motor draws as little as 0.7W at trickle and 6.5W at full boost, Elta quote below 9 to 36 dB(A) at 3m, it is IPX4 on a wall (IPX2 on a ceiling) and runs on 220 to 240V 50/60Hz with a 40°C maximum ambient. Elta give it a 5 year warranty and it is listed on the SAP PCDB.

What it is best used for

Continuous extract (dMEV) from bathrooms, en-suites, toilets, kitchens and utility rooms in new build and refurbishment, where a continuous running fan is specified for Part F. The 150mm model has the boost capacity for kitchens and larger bathrooms.

Its published figures are from through the wall BRE testing, with no static pressure curve, so it is not for long duct runs. For a single small bathroom a 100mm dMEV is usually enough, and for whole house extract from several rooms a central MEV such as the Elta MOXA is simpler.

Why choose this over alternatives

Over an intermittent extract fan, the DEXA runs continuously at a very low trickle and boosts only when humidity actually rises or the room is used, so it avoids both condensation and the heat loss of a fan left on boost. Its constant flow option speeds up or slows down to compensate for duct length and wind, and the run-on timer ignores light switch use under 3 minutes to keep night time noise down.

For heat recovery in a single room, compare the FLUX HR 150; for whole house extract from up to four wet rooms, the MOXA MEV.

Installation notes

  • Mount on a wall, ceiling or window; wall mounting keeps the IPX4 rating, ceiling mounting is IPX2.
  • For window mounting use the Elta 410-WKG150 window kit, with the glass cut to size by a glazier.
  • Set the trickle and boost rates on commissioning to meet the room's required extract rates, and enable constant flow where duct length or wind affects performance.
  • Connect the switched live from the light switch if the intelligent run-on timer is wanted.
  • Installation by a qualified electrician; the front cover comes off without tools for cleaning.

What is the Elta DEXA dMEV 150 for?

Continuous extract from bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms, with automatic boost on humidity or from the run-on timer.

Is it the same as the FLUX dMEV?

DEXA is Elta's current range that replaces FLUX dMEV.

How much air does the DEXA dMEV 150 move?

From 5 l/s trickle up to 50 l/s boost, which is 18 to 180 m³/h.

Can the DEXA dMEV 150 go in a window?

Yes, with the Elta 410-WKG150 window kit.

How quiet is the DEXA dMEV 150?

Elta quote below 9 dB(A) at 3m at minimum and 36 dB(A) at maximum, from through the wall BRE testing.

Will the fan boost every time the light is switched on?

No. If the switched live is on for less than 3 minutes the fan does not speed up, which keeps short night time visits quiet.
