Ceiling Diffusers
1 product
Ceiling diffusers distribute conditioned supply air evenly across commercial and industrial spaces — offices, retail units, restaurants, schools and healthcare facilities. We stock 4-way blow ceiling diffusers in neck sizes from 150×150mm to 450×450mm, including the standard 595×595mm tile-replacement size for suspended ceiling grids. All white powder-coated aluminium with a clean, flush finish. Every diffuser is in stock with next-day delivery available.

What is a 4-way ceiling diffuser used for?
A 4-way ceiling diffuser is a square louvred panel that sits flush in a suspended ceiling and distributes supply air in four directions simultaneously. This creates even air coverage across the room without concentrated draughts. They're the standard air terminal for commercial HVAC systems in offices, meeting rooms, classrooms, shops and restaurants — anywhere with a suspended tile ceiling and ducted air conditioning or ventilation. The louvres are angled to throw air horizontally along the ceiling (the Coanda effect), which mixes it into the room before it drops to occupied level.
What sizes of ceiling diffuser are available?
Our 4-way diffusers come in 150×150mm, 225×225mm, 300×300mm, 375×375mm and 450×450mm neck sizes. The neck size is the duct connection — the overall face dimension is larger (add approximately 145mm to the neck size). The 450×450mm neck (595×595mm overall) is the most common because it drops straight into a standard 600×600mm suspended ceiling grid as a tile replacement. For smaller duct connections or areas needing lower airflow, the 150mm and 225mm options work well. If you need 525×525mm, 600×600mm or custom sizes, we can source these to order.
Do I need a plenum box with a ceiling diffuser?
Yes, in most installations. A plenum box (also called a grille box) connects the round or rectangular ductwork to the square diffuser face. It ensures air is distributed evenly across all four louvre sections rather than blowing harder on the side nearest the duct connection. Plenum boxes also make it easier to seal the connection and reduce air leakage. If you're connecting to spiral duct, you'll need a plenum box with a spigot sized to match your duct diameter. Check our grilles and accessories range, or call us on 0161 818 2050 if you need help specifying the right box.
What is the difference between a ceiling diffuser and an air valve?
A ceiling diffuser is a square, multi-directional panel designed for commercial suspended ceiling systems — it covers a large area and distributes air in four directions. An air valve (disc valve) is a small, round, adjustable fitting used on residential-scale ductwork (100mm–200mm) for MVHR and MEV systems. If you're working on a commercial project with a suspended ceiling, you need diffusers. If you're fitting out a house or flat with an MVHR unit, you need air valves.
Can I adjust the airflow on a 4-way ceiling diffuser?
The diffuser itself doesn't have a built-in damper as standard — it's an open louvred face. To control airflow, you either fit an opposed-blade damper inside the plenum box or order a diffuser with an integrated damper (available to order). The damper lets you balance airflow across multiple diffusers so each room or zone gets the correct volume. For commissioning, an anemometer reading at each diffuser face will confirm the flow rate matches the design specification.
What material and finish are your ceiling diffusers?
All our standard 4-way diffusers are pressed aluminium with a white powder-coated finish (RAL 9010). Aluminium is lightweight, corrosion-resistant and standard across commercial HVAC. The white finish matches standard suspended ceiling tiles. If your project requires a different RAL colour — common in retail, hospitality or architectural applications — we can source custom-finished diffusers to order. Lead times for non-standard colours are typically 2–3 weeks.
