- Ultra-compact 269 mm depth — fits a standard suspended ceiling void
- 100% full and filtered automatic summer bypass
- Wall or ceiling mountable, left or right hand
- Rotatable spigots for flexible duct routing
- Tool-free filter access
- Wireless RF control as standard, ModBus/KNX BMS options
- Passive House certified
The Zehnder EVO 4 is a balanced mechanical ventilation unit with heat recovery, designed for apartments and smaller homes where ceiling-void space is at a premium. At just 269 mm deep with a built-in condensate fall, it slides into a standard suspended ceiling without packing or shims.
EC motors hold a constant commissioned flow rate as the filters load, so Part F duty is maintained between filter changes. The summer bypass is fully filtered — pollen and particulates stay out during warm-night purge — and an A+ SEC rating keeps EPC modelling clean.
Four variants available: standard, factory-handed pre-heater (for external temperatures below -10°C), mirror-handed pre-heater, and an enthalpy exchanger version that recovers moisture as well as heat.
Suitable for
- Apartments flats
- 1–3 bed new builds
- Retrofit projects with limited loft or cupboard space.
Installation
Wall or horizontal ceiling mounting. Integrated condensate fall — no shimming required. 160 mm internal duct connections, rotatable spigots. Wired by a qualified electrician via the supplied flying lead. Like the Zehnder evo 2 compact heat recovery this unit is designed for optimal efficiency in residential and commercial applications. Its advanced technology ensures maximum energy savings while maintaining a comfortable indoor climate. Additionally, the unit's compact size allows for versatile installation options, making it suitable for various spaces.

What size home is the Zehnder EVO 4 MVHR suitable for?
The EVO 4 is the highest-capacity unit in the EVO range, with a commissioned airflow range of 139–322 m³/h, making it suited to larger apartments and 1–3 bed homes that need more air than the EVO 2 or EVO 3 can supply. Choose it when whole-dwelling flow is the priority rather than the smallest possible footprint. If you are unsure on duty, send us the room count and we will confirm the right unit.
What's the difference between the Zehnder EVO 2, EVO 3 and EVO 4?
All three share the same compact Zehnder EVO platform; the difference is capacity, depth and efficiency. The EVO 2 is the shallowest at 210 mm for the tightest voids and smallest dwellings; the EVO 3 delivers class-leading 91% heat recovery at 0.5 W/l/s in a 269 mm casing; the EVO 4 uses that same 269 mm casing but pushes up to 322 m³/h for larger homes. Choose the EVO 4 when you need the highest airflow in the range.
Will the Zehnder EVO 4 fit in a standard ceiling void?
Yes. Despite being the highest-capacity unit in the range it keeps the slim 269 mm depth of the EVO 3, with a built-in condensate fall, so it slides into a standard suspended ceiling without packing or shims. The footprint is 1160 × 600 mm and it can be wall- or ceiling-mounted, left- or right-handed, with rotatable 160 mm spigots for flexible duct routing. It weighs 39 kg, so plan fixings accordingly.
How much does the Zehnder EVO 4 cost to run, and is it efficient?
It offers up to 89% heat recovery (SAP 2009) / 87% (SAP 2012) and a Specific Fan Power of 0.71 W/l/s, with an A+ SEC energy rating. Because it moves more air, expect a slightly higher draw than the smaller EVO units, but EC motors hold the commissioned flow rate as filters load so it stays efficient between filter changes and keeps EPC modelling clean. Maximum power draw is 370 W without the pre-heater.
Which version of the EVO 4 should I choose: standard, pre-heater or enthalpy?
There are four variants: standard; a factory-handed pre-heater version for locations with external temperatures below -10 °C; a mirror-handed pre-heater version; and an enthalpy exchanger version that recovers moisture as well as heat (helpful where winter dryness is a concern). Match the handing to your duct layout, add the pre-heater for cold climates, and choose enthalpy for humidity balance. Tell us your install and we will confirm the exact model code.
Does the Zehnder EVO 4 meet Building Regulations Part F, and how quiet is it?
Yes, it is certified to BS EN 13141-7:2010 and is Passive House certified, and because the EC motors maintain the commissioned duty it supports Part F compliance between filter changes. It has a fully filtered summer bypass and Silentblock anti-vibration mountings to keep operation quiet for its capacity. It is supplied with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty and should be wired by a qualified electrician via the supplied flying lead.
