Summary

The Elta Versaline VL125 is an all metal inline centrifugal fan for 125mm circular ducting, moving up to 212 m³/h in free air and rated in the Elta datasheet to 150 Pa. It is built for low airflow, medium pressure systems and its compact casing suits ceiling void mounting.
The galvanised steel casing comes with integral mounting brackets and 25mm spigots for flexible or rigid duct. The single phase motor is IP44 with Class F insulation, sealed for life bearings and a non self resetting thermal cut-out, and arrives with a flying lead and UK 3 pin plug. The motor is suitable for speed control once the supplied plug is removed and it is wired into a controller. Elta give a 12 month warranty.

- AC Motor
- Up to 212 m³/h
- Speed Controllable
What it is best used for
Toilets, shower rooms and small kitchenettes on 125mm ducting. It has a similar free air volume to the VL100 and its Elta performance table runs on to 150 Pa, where the VL100 table stops at 100 Pa. At 100 Pa the two are close (112 against 119 m³/h), so choose mainly on duct size.
It is for indoor use only, and because of its non self resetting cut-out Elta say it must not be fed through a timer or from a circuit that is regularly switched on and off. For a light switch or timer run bathroom fan, choose a fan designed for intermittent switching instead.
Why choose this over alternatives
A backward curved centrifugal impeller holds its airflow against duct resistance far better than an axial in line fan of the same size, and it is non overloading and self cleaning. The all metal casing is a sturdier choice than plastic mixed flow units in plant spaces and ceiling voids.
Compared with the Elta VL100 it is rated to 150 Pa instead of 100 Pa, although at 100 Pa the VL100 moves slightly more air. If you need more air or a choice of speeds, the Elta VL150 moves up to 468 m³/h with 3 speeds.
Installation notes
- Fix the fan with the bracket set supplied. It can be mounted at any angle, but a vertical outlet needs a weatherproof cover on the ducted outlet.
- Fit at least 1m of straight duct, the same diameter as the spigots, on both the inlet and outlet. Elta recommend cushioned clamps to cut noise transmission.
- Leave a minimum of 150mm clearance between the fan and the surrounding structure.
- Plug in, or remove the plug and wire through the pre-fitted M20 gland using a 3 core HO5VV-F cable of 7 to 10mm diameter. Provide a means of isolation and do not supply it through a timer.
- If the cut-out trips, switch the power off for one minute to reset it. Inspect and clean the fan at least once every 12 months.

What size duct does the Elta VL125 fit?
125mm circular duct. The fan has 25mm long spigots that push straight into flexible or rigid duct.
How much air does the VL125 move?
Up to 212 m³/h in free air and about 112 m³/h at 100 Pa. The Elta table goes up to 150 Pa for this size.
Can the VL125 be speed controlled?
Yes. Elta rate the motor as suitable for speed control. Remove the supplied plug and wire it into a suitable controller, and ask us if you need help choosing one.
Can it be switched on and off by a light switch or timer?
No. Elta fit a non self resetting thermal cut-out and say the fan must not be supplied through a timer or a circuit that is regularly switched on and off. It suits continuous or manually controlled duty.
Can it be mounted vertically?
Yes, at any angle using the supplied bracket set. If the outlet points up, fit a weatherproof cover on the ducted outlet.
How noisy is the VL125?
Elta quote 43 dB(A) on the inlet and 38 dB(A) on the outlet at 3m. Spigot silencers from 300mm to 1200mm long are available if it serves a quiet room.
