Summary

The Elta Qube SQUHT82/630-EC-3 is a high temperature centrifugal box fan with a 630mm backward curved impeller in a 820mm cube casing, rated by Elta for operating temperatures up to +120°C in the duct. It moves up to 15098 m³/h at free air on full (10V) speed and 12312 m³/h at 500 Pa, the highest pressure in Elta's performance table for this model.
The three phase IE6 EC motor (380-480V 50/60Hz) is IP55, has a built in variable speed drive with protection against overload, over temperature and locked rotor, and takes a 2-10V or potentiometer speed signal, with volt free fault contacts for a BMS. The motor sits out of the air stream, so heat, grease and contaminants in the extract do not reach it. The impeller is EN-AW 5754 aluminium, non-overloading and balanced to G6.3, inside an extruded aluminium frame with 25mm double skinned, mineral wool filled panels that can be moved to give a 90° or straight through airflow. Elta give a 12 month warranty.

What it is best used for
Hot, greasy or contaminated extract inside the building where the fan sits in the duct run, typically above a ceiling or in a plant room: a factory or warehouse bay, a central production kitchen, a large bakery or forge and foundry extract. Elta list kitchens, restaurants, schools, colleges, shops, shower rooms and factories as typical uses. It moves 15098 m³/h free air and 14072 m³/h against 200 Pa, which is enough for a canopy, grease filters and a reasonable duct run.
It is not a smoke extract fan. The +120°C figure is a continuous in-duct running rating, and Elta's datasheet gives no smoke or fire temperature/time rating, so use a certified smoke fan where the design calls for one. It is also not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres. If the air stays below 50°C, the standard Qube SQU range covers the same box sizes without the high temperature build.
Why choose this over alternatives
An EC Qube needs no separate inverter: the drive is built into the motor, so speed is set from a simple potentiometer or a 2-10V BMS signal, and turning it down saves energy. At 7.5V this model gives 11394 m³/h free air and at 5V 7186 m³/h, so one fan can be commissioned to the exact duty. The Elta SQUHT82/500-4-3 is the AC version in the same box size, which runs at fixed speed or from a separate inverter.
For less air, the Elta SQUHT82/560-EC-3 gives 12373 m³/h free air. For more, the Elta SQUHT102/630B-EC-3 gives 18547 m³/h. If the air will stay below 50°C, the Elta SQU82/630-EC-3 is the standard temperature version with the same box and impeller size.
Installation notes
- The fan can be mounted at any angle. It arrives set up for 90° airflow; move the panels to make it straight through if your duct runs in line. Make sure it is adequately supported, as it weighs 94 kg.
- Leave access to the panels: they are fixed with multi thread U nuts and lift off for cleaning and maintenance. Elta recommend an inspection at least every 12 months.
- Wire to Elta diagram 152-734 with a means of isolation. For external speed control from the 149-POT-10-MI or a BMS, remove the jumper on the control board. Elta give a maximum control cable length of 30m for the 2-10V signal; NC and NO fault contacts are provided for a BMS or alarm.
- Disconnect the fan before any insulation resistance testing, as the test can damage the EC electronics and that is not covered by warranty. The motor has an auto reset thermal contact, so isolate the supply before working on it because it can restart once cool.
- Elta warn that the bulkhead and frame can get hot when the fan is handling air at higher temperatures, so keep it clear of anything that could be damaged by heat and guard against contact. The EC motor may also slow itself down automatically under excessive load or temperature.
You'll also need
- Elta EC Electronic Controller 149-POT-10-MI for manual speed control (Elta's listed controller for this fan).

What temperature can the Elta SQUHT82/630-EC-3 handle?
Elta rate the Qube SQUHT for operating temperatures up to +120°C in the duct, with the motor out of the air stream. The datasheet gives no smoke extract or fire rating, so it is for hot kitchen and process air, not smoke control.
How much air does the SQUHT82/630-EC-3 move?
Up to 15098 m³/h (4.194 m³/s) at free air on 10V, 14598 m³/h at 100 Pa, 14072 m³/h at 200 Pa and 12312 m³/h at 500 Pa.
What size are the inlet and outlet?
The 820mm cube casing has a 730mm inlet and a 740mm outlet, per Elta's dimension table. The 630mm in the model code is the impeller diameter, not a duct size, so allow for a transition to your ductwork.
How do I control the speed?
The EC motor has a built in drive. Use the Elta 149-POT-10-MI controller, or a 2-10V signal from a BMS, after removing the jumper on the control board.
Can it be straight through or 90°?
Both. It is supplied set for 90° airflow, and the panels can be moved on site for straight through airflow. The fan can be mounted at any angle.
How noisy is the SQUHT82/630-EC-3?
Elta quote 71 dB(A) at the inlet, 75 dB(A) at the outlet and 64 dB(A) breakout from the case, at 3m in free field on full speed. Turning the speed down reduces this.
