The Elta SPA710/6-1EC is a 710mm Raptor plate mounted axial fan with a single phase EC motor, moving up to 13104 m³/h at full speed and working against static pressures up to 150 Pa. It brings big fan airflow to sites with only a single phase supply.
The EC external rotor motor has an integrated variable speed drive, runs on 220-277V 50/60Hz and reaches 892 rpm at 10V, drawing 659 W and 3.98 A. Speed is set by a 0-10V signal or potentiometer. The Ziehl-Abegg FE2owlet aerofoil impeller has serrated trailing edges and winglets, the motor is weatherproofed to IP54 with an IP55 terminal box, and Elta give a 12 month warranty.
- 1 Phase
- EC Motor
- Up to 13104 m³/h
- Speed Controllable
What it is best used for
Large spaces with a single phase supply that need variable, BMS controlled ventilation: sports halls, school halls, retail units, workshops and warehouses. At 13104 m³/h it gives about 6 air changes an hour in a 2180 m³ space, for example 33m x 16.5m with a 4m ceiling. Turned down to 8V it still moves 10440 m³/h at 46 dB(A).
It is a low to medium pressure plate fan, so for long ducted runs choose a cased axial or mixed flow fan. It is not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres.
Why choose this over alternatives
On a three phase site, the Elta SPA710/6-3EC gives slightly more air (14029 m³/h) and pressure up to 200 Pa. The AC Elta SPA710/68-3AC moves 14548 m³/h but needs three phase and gives only two fixed speeds without a transformer controller. Elta's Compact SCP710-1EC is another single phase EC 710mm option rated to higher pressure.
Because the EC drive is built in, you can turn the fan down to match demand. At lower speeds the power drops sharply, which is where EC saves running cost over a fixed speed AC fan.
Installation notes
- Mount the fan plate securely at any angle, in a wall, panel or bulkhead, using the four corner fixing holes, and leave access for future maintenance.
- Supply is 220-277V single phase 50/60Hz. Wire to Elta diagram 152-MOEA03K1. The motor has an integrated variable speed drive with a 10V output and a 0-10V input, so speed is set by the 149-POT-10-MI potentiometer or a 0-10V signal from a BMS.
- Disconnect the EC fan before any insulation resistance testing on the circuit. Elta warn that testing with it connected can damage the electronics and is not covered by warranty.
- The EC motor has internal electronic overload protection and may restart on its own after a fault clears, so isolate the supply before maintenance.
- At first start check rotation and airflow direction. Inspect and clean blades and guards at least every 12 months.
You'll also need
- Elta EC electronic controller 149-POT-10-MI for manual speed control.
- Elta 064-0710-C louvre shutter available to order, ask us

How much air does the Elta SPA710/6-1EC move?
Up to 13104 m³/h at 10V in free air, 10969 m³/h at 50 Pa, 8165 m³/h at 100 Pa and 4370 m³/h at 150 Pa.
How is the speed controlled?
The EC motor has a built in drive. Use the Elta 149-POT-10-MI potentiometer, which we stock, or a 0-10V signal from a BMS or other controller.
Can I run a 710mm fan on single phase?
Yes. This model runs on 220-277V single phase 50/60Hz, which is why it suits sites without three phase.
How quiet is it at reduced speed?
51 dB(A) at 3m at 10V, 46 dB(A) at 8V and 33 dB(A) at 5V.
What size plate does it need?
850 x 850mm with four 15mm fixing holes on 810mm centres, for a 710mm opening.
Is there anything to watch for when testing the circuit?
Yes. Disconnect the fan before insulation resistance testing, as Elta warn that testing can damage the EC electronics.
