The Elta SPA630/4-1EC is a 630mm Raptor plate mounted axial fan with a single phase EC motor, moving up to 11401 m³/h at full speed and working against static pressures up to 200 Pa. Speed is fully variable, so the fan can be set to match the room.
The EC external rotor motor has an integrated variable speed drive, runs on 220-277V single phase 50/60Hz and reaches 1055 rpm at 10V, drawing 772 W and 4.09 A. Speed is set by a 0-10V signal or the 149-POT-10-MI potentiometer. The Ziehl-Abegg FE2owlet aerofoil impeller has serrated trailing edges and winglets, the motor is weatherproofed to IP54 with an IP55 terminal box, it handles air up to +70°C, and Elta give a 12 month warranty.

What it is best used for
Single phase sites that need variable or BMS controlled through-wall ventilation in warehouses, distribution sheds, factories, sports halls and large industrial units, often as a bank of fans along one wall. At 11401 m³/h it gives about 6 air changes an hour in a space of roughly 1920 m³, for example 32m x 15m with a 4m ceiling. Turned down to 8V it still moves 9169 m³/h at 49 dB(A).
The datasheet shows airflow up to 200 Pa, enough for a louvre shutter, cowl or short duct, but for long ducted runs choose a cased axial or inline mixed flow fan. It is not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres.
Why choose this over alternatives
Against the AC Elta SPA630/6-1AC (10958 m³/h, up to 100 Pa, 660 W, 49 dB(A)), this EC version gives stepless 0-10V control without a separate transformer or electronic controller. On a three phase site the Elta SPA630/4-3EC gives 13122 m³/h, up to 250 Pa, 1.10 kW, 56 dB(A). The Compact Elta SCP630-1EC is the other single phase EC option at this size (14980 m³/h, up to 300 Pa, 1.34 kW, 66 dB(A)). At lower speeds EC power falls sharply, which is where it saves running cost over a fixed speed AC fan.
Installation notes
- Mount the 805 x 805mm fan plate securely at any angle using the four 11mm holes on 750mm centres, and leave access for future maintenance.
- Supply is 220-277V single phase 50/60Hz. Wire to Elta diagram 152-MOEA03K1 through the IP55 terminal box. The motor has a 10V output and a 0-10V input, so speed is set by the 149-POT-10-MI potentiometer or a 0-10V signal from a BMS.
- Disconnect the EC fan before any insulation resistance testing on the circuit. Elta warn that testing with it connected can damage the electronics and is not covered by warranty.
- The EC motor has internal electronic overload protection and may restart on its own after a fault clears, so isolate the supply before maintenance.
- At first start check rotation and airflow direction. Inspect and clean blades and guards at least every 12 months.

How much air does the Elta SPA630/4-1EC move?
Up to 11401 m³/h at 10V in free air, and 10487 m³/h at 50 Pa, 9101 m³/h at 100 Pa, 6973 m³/h at 150 Pa and 4849 m³/h at 200 Pa.
How is the speed controlled?
The EC motor has a built in drive. Use the Elta 149-POT-10-MI potentiometer, which we stock, or a 0-10V signal from a BMS or other controller.
How quiet is it at reduced speed?
53 dB(A) at 3m at 10V, 49 dB(A) at 8V and 40 dB(A) at 5V.
What size hole and plate does it need?
It fits a 630mm opening. The square plate is 805 x 805mm with four 11mm fixing holes on 750mm centres.
What supply does it need?
220-277V single phase 50/60Hz. A normal 230V supply is fine.
Is there anything to watch for when testing the circuit?
Yes. Disconnect the fan before insulation resistance testing, as Elta warn that testing can damage the EC electronics.
