Summary
See more specification See less specification
The Elta SPA500/6-1AC is a 500mm Raptor plate mounted axial fan with a 6 pole motor, moving up to 6340 m³/h and working against static pressures up to 75 Pa. It pairs high volume with low noise, at 44 dB(A) at 3m.
It runs on a single phase 220-240V AC external rotor motor at 918 rpm, insulated to Class F with integral thermal overload protection, drawing 289 W and 1.30 A. The Ziehl-Abegg FE2owlet aerofoil impeller has serrated trailing edges and winglets, the motor is weatherproofed to IP54 with an IP55 terminal box, and Elta give a 12 month warranty.
- 1 Phase
- AC Motor
- Up to 6340 m³/h
- Speed Controllable
What it is best used for
Quiet, high volume through-wall ventilation on a single phase supply in shops, school halls, gyms, sports halls and light industrial units. At 6340 m³/h it gives about 6 air changes an hour in a 1050 m³ space, for example 22m x 12m with a 4m ceiling.
It loses airflow quickly above 75 Pa, so for ducted systems or long louvre runs choose the 4 pole SPA500/4-1AC or an inline mixed flow fan. It is not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres.
Why choose this over alternatives
The 4 pole Elta SPA500/4-1AC moves more air (8514 m³/h) and handles up to 150 Pa, but draws 750 W at 51 dB(A). The SPA500/6-1AC uses 289 W and runs at 44 dB(A), so it is the better pick where pressure is low and noise or running cost matters. For a little less air at even lower noise, the Elta SPA450/6-1AC gives 4831 m³/h at 41 dB(A).
Installation notes
- Mount the fan plate securely at any angle, in a wall, panel or bulkhead, using the four corner fixing holes. Make sure the structure can carry the fan and leave access for future maintenance.
- The motor is prewired to an IP55 terminal box on a flying lead, so the box can be placed to suit the incoming supply. Wire to Elta diagram 152-104B and make all earth connections.
- Speed can be controlled with the Elta 149-EL31TK electronic controller or the 149-TC12 transformer controller listed in the Elta accessory table. Wire the thermal contacts into the controller circuit.
- Fit a local means of isolation. The AC motor has an auto-reset thermal cut-out, so isolate the supply before any work because the fan can restart on its own once it cools.
- At first start check impeller rotation and airflow direction, and that the running current does not exceed the rating plate. Inspect and clean blades and guards at least every 12 months.
You'll also need
- Elta 149-EL31TK electronic speed controller (3 amp) for variable speed.
- Elta 149-TC12 transformer controller available to order, ask us
- Elta 064-0500-C louvre shutter available to order, ask us
