The Elta SPA500/4-1AC is a 500mm Raptor plate mounted axial fan with a 4 pole single phase motor, moving up to 8514 m³/h in free air and working against static pressures up to 150 Pa. It runs at 51 dB(A) at 3m.
It runs on a 220-240V AC external rotor motor at 1210 rpm, insulated to Class F with integral thermal overload protection, drawing 750 W and 3.46 A. The Ziehl-Abegg FE2owlet aerofoil impeller has serrated trailing edges and winglets for lower noise, the motor is weatherproofed to IP54 with an IP55 terminal box, and Elta give a 12 month warranty.
- 1 Phase
- AC Motor
- Up to 8514 m³/h
- Speed Controllable
What it is best used for
Through-wall extract or supply on a single phase supply where noise matters, in factory units, workshops, warehouses, sports halls and large commercial kitchens where air is moved straight through a wall or bulkhead. At 8514 m³/h it gives about 6 air changes an hour in a space of roughly 1404 m³, for example 27m x 13m with a 4m ceiling.
With airflow shown up to 150 Pa it copes with a louvre shutter, cowl or short duct, but for long ducted runs use a cased axial or inline mixed flow fan. It is not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres.
Why choose this over alternatives
Against the Compact Elta SCP500/4-1AC (6772 m³/h, up to 100 Pa, 411 W, 58 dB(A)), the Raptor moves more air and is quieter, thanks to its Ziehl-Abegg impeller and external rotor motor. The slower 6 pole Elta SPA500/6-1AC is quieter and cheaper to run (6340 m³/h, up to 75 Pa, 289 W, 44 dB(A)) if you can accept less air. For 0-10V control choose the EC Elta SPA500/4-1EC (8356 m³/h, up to 150 Pa, 747 W, 56 dB(A)).
Installation notes
- Mount the 655 x 655mm fan plate securely at any angle using the four 11mm holes on 615mm centres. Make sure the structure can carry its 21 kg and leave access for maintenance.
- The motor is prewired to an IP55 terminal box on a flying lead, so the box can be placed to suit the incoming supply. Wire to Elta diagram 152-104B and make all earth connections.
- Speed can be controlled with the 149-EL61TK electronic controller or the 149-TC18 five step transformer controller. Wire the thermal contacts into the controller circuit as shown on the diagram.
- Fit a local means of isolation. The AC motor has an auto-reset thermal cut-out, so isolate the supply before any work because the fan can restart on its own once it cools.
- At first start check impeller rotation and airflow direction, and that the running current does not exceed the rating plate. Inspect and clean blades and guards at least every 12 months.
You'll also need
- Elta 149-EL61TK electronic speed controller (6 amp) for variable speed.
- Elta 149-TC18 five step transformer controller (8 amp) as an alternative.
- Elta 064-0500-C louvre shutter available to order, ask us
- Elta SWC45/50 wall cowl available to order, ask us
