Summary

The Elta SPA450/46-3AC is a 450mm Raptor plate mounted axial fan with a two speed three phase motor, moving up to 7193 m³/h on high speed and still delivering 5486 m³/h at 100 Pa. On low speed it moves 5836 m³/h for quieter running.
The 380-415V AC external rotor motor runs at 1354 rpm in delta and 1016 rpm in star, insulated to Class F with integral thermal overload protection, drawing 538 W and 1.08 A on high speed. The Ziehl-Abegg FE2owlet aerofoil impeller has serrated trailing edges and winglets for lower noise, the motor is weatherproofed to IP54 with an IP55 terminal box, and Elta give a 12 month warranty.
- 3 Phase
- AC Motor
- Up to 7193 m³/h
- Speed Controllable
What it is best used for
Wall and roof extract in larger spaces with a three phase supply: sports halls, warehouses, factory bays, industrial units, retail parks and school halls. At 7193 m³/h it gives about 6 air changes an hour in a 1200 m³ space, for example 20m x 15m with a 4m ceiling.
It is a plate fan for low resistance installations, so for ducted runs a cased axial or inline mixed flow fan is the better fit. It is not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres, and a single phase supply needs the SPA450/4-1AC instead.
Why choose this over alternatives
The Elta SPA450/4-1AC moves about the same air on single phase, but draws 2.45 A against 1.08 A per phase here and has no built in second speed. The Elta SPA450/6-1AC is quieter at 41 dB(A) but tops out at 4831 m³/h. If you need more air, the Elta SPA560/46-3AC moves 11336 m³/h on high speed.
Installation notes
- Mount the fan plate securely at any angle, in a wall, panel or bulkhead, using the four corner fixing holes, and leave access for future maintenance.
- Wire to Elta diagram 152-108. Delta connection gives high speed, star gives low speed, and a star/delta switch can be fitted to select between them. Swap any two supply phases to reverse rotation.
- For variable speed, Elta pair this fan with the 149-TC33 three phase transformer controller wired through its own terminal box.
- The thermal contacts (TB TB) must be wired into the starter or controller circuit so the motor is protected. Fit a local means of isolation.
- At first start check rotation, airflow direction and that the running current does not exceed the rating plate. Inspect and clean blades and guards at least every 12 months.
