Summary
See more specification See less specification
The Elta SPA250/2-1AC is a 250mm Raptor plate mounted axial fan with a fast running 2 pole motor, moving up to 1584 m³/h in free air and still delivering 986 m³/h against 100 Pa. That makes it the strongest 250mm Raptor on pressure, so it copes with a grille, a short duct or a louvre shutter far better than the 4 pole version.
It runs on a single phase 220-240V AC external rotor motor at 2119 rpm, insulated to Class F with integral thermal overload protection, drawing 125 W and 0.57 A. The mild steel plate is powder coated Telegrey (RAL 7045), the motor is weatherproofed to IP44, an IP55 terminal box is fitted, and Elta give a 12 month warranty.
- 1 Phase
- AC Motor
- Up to 1584 m³/h
- Speed Controllable
What it is best used for
Small through-wall or panel extract where a 250mm hole is all there is room for but the air has to push through a grille, shutter or a short run of duct: plant rooms, small workshops, stores, toilet blocks, bin stores and changing rooms in schools and sports centres. At 1584 m³/h it gives about 10 air changes an hour in a room of 158 m³, for example 9m x 7m with a 2.5m ceiling.
It is the louder choice at 50 dB(A) at 3m because of its 2 pole speed, so it is not ideal next to offices or classrooms where a quieter fan would do. It is also not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres, and for longer duct runs an inline mixed flow fan is the better option.
Why choose this over alternatives
The 250mm Raptor comes in two speeds. The Elta SPA250/4-1AC is the quiet 4 pole option at 37 dB(A), but it only moves 983 m³/h and runs out of pressure at about 50 Pa. The SPA250/2-1AC uses the same plate and fixing centres yet moves about 60% more air and still gives 986 m³/h at 100 Pa, so choose it when there is resistance to overcome and noise is a lower priority.
If you need more air than a 250mm fan can give, the Elta SPA315/4-1AC moves up to 2167 m³/h from a 430mm square plate.
Installation notes
- Mount the fan plate securely at any angle, in a wall, panel or bulkhead, using the four corner fixing holes. Make sure the structure can carry the fan and leave access for future maintenance.
- The motor is prewired to an IP55 terminal box on a flying lead, so the box can be placed to suit the incoming supply. Wire to Elta diagram 152-177 and make all earth connections.
- Speed can be controlled with the Elta 149-EL31 electronic controller or the 149-TC12 transformer controller, as listed in the Elta accessory table.
- Fit a local means of isolation. The AC motor has an auto-reset thermal cut-out, so isolate the supply before any work because the fan can restart on its own once it cools.
- At first start check impeller rotation and airflow direction, and that the running current does not exceed the rating plate. Inspect and clean blades and guards at least every 12 months.
You'll also need
- Elta 149-EL31 electronic speed controller (3 amp) for variable speed.
- Elta 149-TC12 transformer controller available to order, ask us
- Elta 064-0250-C louvre shutter available to order, ask us
- Elta SWC25/31 wall cowl available to order, ask us

What is the difference between the SPA250/2-1AC and SPA250/4-1AC?
The /2 has a 2 pole motor running at 2119 rpm, giving up to 1584 m³/h and 986 m³/h at 100 Pa. The /4 runs at 1368 rpm, moving 983 m³/h but much more quietly, at 37 dB(A) against 50 dB(A).
What size plate and hole does it need?
The square mounting plate is 370 x 370mm with fixing holes on 320mm centres. The fan suits a 250mm diameter opening.
How much air does the Elta SPA250/2-1AC move?
Up to 1584 m³/h (0.44 m³/s) in free air, 1314 m³/h at 50 Pa and 986 m³/h at 100 Pa.
Which speed controller does it need?
Elta list the 149-EL31 electronic controller or the 149-TC12 transformer controller. We stock the 149-EL31; ask us for the 149-TC12.
Can it be mounted horizontally?
Yes. The Raptor plate fan can be mounted at any angle, so it works in walls, ceilings or panels.
How noisy is it?
50 dB(A) at 3m. It is the louder of the two 250mm Raptor fans because of its higher speed.
