The Elta SLC500/4B-3AC is a 500mm Revolution long cased axial fan and the larger, quiet four pole 500mm model for three phase supplies. It moves up to 8075 m³/h at free air and 6437 m³/h against 150 Pa, from a 4 pole three phase AC motor running at 1450 rpm.
The casing is heavy gauge steel, hot dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 and suitable for external mounting, with a die cast aluminium aerofoil impeller. The motor is IP55 with sealed for life bearings, wired to an IP55 terminal box on the outside of the case. The IE2 motor is designed for use with a frequency inverter. Elta give a 12 month warranty.

What it is best used for
Low to moderate pressure ventilation on three phase: warehouses, factories, sports halls, agricultural buildings and plant rooms, through the wall or on short duct runs. At 8075 m³/h it gives about 10 air changes an hour in roughly 800 m³ of space, at only 55 dB(A) at 3m.
The table stops at 150 Pa (6437 m³/h), so it is the wrong fan for long ductwork or filtered systems. Above 150 Pa look at the two pole SLC500/2A-3AC.
Why choose this over alternatives
It sits above the Elta SLC500/4A-3AC (6494 m³/h free air, 0.39 kW), adding around 1580 m³/h at free air and holding 6437 m³/h at 150 Pa where the 4A has dropped to 3884 m³/h.
For high pressure in the same 500mm duct size, the Elta SLC500/2A-3AC reaches 500 Pa but uses 3.937 kW and is 15 dB(A) louder. If you only have single phase, the Elta SLC500/4B-1AC actually moves more air at free air.
Installation notes
- Mount at any angle, horizontally in a duct run or vertically, but make sure the fan is adequately supported: it weighs 33 kg. AV mounts and mounting feet are available from Elta.
- The flanges are 585mm outside diameter with 12 holes of 12mm on a 560mm PCD. Use Elta matching flanges and flexible connectors to join it to ductwork.
- Fit a local isolator, and protect the motor with a starter or controller that has overload protection; fuses and breakers only give short circuit protection. Do not use the isolator for day to day on and off control.
- Supplied star (Y) connected for a 400V three phase supply, wiring diagram 152-600. The installation manual shows it reconnected to delta when run from a single phase to three phase inverter.
- Not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres. Inspect and clean the impeller, motor and guards at least every 12 months.

How noisy is it?
55 dB(A) at 3m in free field, per Elta's data. Elta offer podded and unpodded silencers in 1D and 2D lengths for this size if you need it quieter.
Can it be mounted outside or vertically?
Yes. The galvanised casing is suitable for external mounting as standard and the fan can be mounted at any angle. For explosive atmospheres you need the ATEX rated Elta SLCX range instead.
