Summary
See more specification See less specification
The Elta SLC500/2B-3AC is a 500mm Revolution long cased axial fan and the most powerful 500mm model in the range. It moves up to 16229 m³/h at free air and 13759 m³/h against 500 Pa, from a 2 pole three phase AC motor running at 2920 rpm.
The casing is heavy gauge steel, hot dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 and suitable for external mounting, with a die cast aluminium aerofoil impeller. The motor is IP55 with sealed for life bearings, wired to an IP55 terminal box on the outside of the case. The IE2 motor is designed for use with a frequency inverter. Elta give a 12 month warranty.
- 3 Phase
- AC Motor
- Up to 16229 m³/h
- Speed Controllable
What it is best used for
Heavy duty ducted systems where a 500mm duct size is fixed but the airflow and pressure demand is high: process extract, foundry and factory ventilation, large kitchen canopy systems and plant cooling. It moves 16229 m³/h at free air and 13759 m³/h at 500 Pa.
It is 71 kg, three phase only and 71 dB(A) at 3m. If the duct can go up a size, a 560mm four pole fan often delivers similar airflow at lower pressure for far less power, so check the duty point before choosing it.
Why choose this over alternatives
Compared with the Elta SLC500/2A-3AC in the same 500mm casing, the 2B adds about 1650 m³/h at free air and 1865 m³/h at 500 Pa, for an extra 1.25 kW. If the 2A just misses your duty, this is the step up without changing duct size.
Beyond this, the Elta SLC560/2-3AC jumps to 24124 m³/h but needs 560mm ductwork and an 8.42 kW motor.
Installation notes
- Mount at any angle, horizontally in a duct run or vertically, but make sure the fan is adequately supported: it weighs 71 kg. AV mounts and mounting feet are available from Elta.
- The flanges are 585mm outside diameter with 12 holes of 12mm on a 560mm PCD. Use Elta matching flanges and flexible connectors to join it to ductwork.
- Fit a local isolator, and protect the motor with a starter or controller that has overload protection; fuses and breakers only give short circuit protection. Do not use the isolator for day to day on and off control.
- Wire to diagram 152-601 (delta connected, 380-415V three phase). Check rotation and airflow direction at first start and that the running current does not exceed the nameplate.
- Not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres. Inspect and clean the impeller, motor and guards at least every 12 months.
You'll also need
- Elta matching flanges 500mm (061B-0500) (sold each, one per ducted side)
- Eltadrive 149-ODE3-34055-3KA4B inverter for a three phase supply (available to order, ask us)
- Elta APK500/003 ancillary pack (flexible connections, matching flanges, AV mounts and mounting feet in one code; available to order, ask us)

What size duct does the Elta SLC500/2B-3AC fit?
It is a 500mm fan with 500mm inside the casing. The flanges are 585mm outside diameter with 12 holes of 12mm on a 560mm PCD, and the case is 450mm long (dimension C).
How much air does it move?
Up to 16229 m³/h (4.508 m³/s) at free air, falling to 13759 m³/h at 500 Pa, the highest pressure in Elta's table for this model.
Is the SLC500/2B-3AC single or three phase?
Three phase, 380-415V 50Hz, delta connected. Peak current is 8.89 A.
Can I control the speed of the SLC500/2B-3AC?
Yes, with a three phase frequency inverter. Elta list the Eltadrive 149-ODE3-34055-3KA4B. No single phase input drive or transformer controller is listed for this model.
How noisy is it?
71 dB(A) at 3m in free field, per Elta's data. Elta offer podded and unpodded silencers in 1D and 2D lengths for this size if you need it quieter.
Can it be mounted outside or vertically?
Yes. The galvanised casing is suitable for external mounting as standard and the fan can be mounted at any angle. For explosive atmospheres you need the ATEX rated Elta SLCX range instead.
