The Elta SLC450/4-3AC is a 450mm Revolution long cased axial fan and the four pole three phase model at 450mm. It moves up to 6991 m³/h at free air and 4601 m³/h against 150 Pa, from a 4 pole three phase AC motor running at 1455 rpm.
The casing is heavy gauge steel, hot dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 and suitable for external mounting, with a die cast aluminium aerofoil impeller. The motor is IP55 with sealed for life bearings, wired to an IP55 terminal box on the outside of the case. The IE2 motor is designed for use with a frequency inverter and can also run on a 149-TC33 transformer controller. Elta give a 12 month warranty.
- 3 Phase
- AC Motor
- Up to 6991 m³/h
- Speed Controllable
What it is best used for
General and ducted ventilation on three phase up to 150 Pa: workshops, warehouses, factories, sports halls and agricultural buildings. It moves 6991 m³/h at free air and still 4601 m³/h at 150 Pa, at 56 dB(A) at 3m and 0.97 A.
Above 150 Pa you need a two pole fan; the SLC450/2A-3AC holds over 7600 m³/h at 500 Pa but is 73 dB(A).
Why choose this over alternatives
Against the single phase Elta SLC450/4-1AC (6059 m³/h, fixed speed, to 100 Pa), this model moves more air, reaches 150 Pa and is speed controllable by transformer or inverter.
The two pole Elta SLC450/2A-3AC is the high pressure option in the same casing size, at 2.49 kW. For quieter variable speed on single phase, the Elta SLC450-1EC gives 5911 m³/h with 0 to 10V control.
Installation notes
- Mount at any angle, horizontally in a duct run or vertically, and make sure the fan is adequately supported: it weighs 35 kg. AV mounts and mounting feet are available from Elta.
- The flanges are 530mm outside diameter with 8 holes of 12mm on a 500mm PCD. Use Elta matching flanges and flexible connectors to join it to ductwork.
- Fit a local isolator, and protect the motor with a starter or controller that has overload protection; fuses and breakers only give short circuit protection. Do not use the isolator for day to day on and off control.
- Supplied star (Y) connected for a 400V three phase supply, wiring diagram 152-600. The installation manual shows it reconnected to delta when run from a single phase to three phase inverter.
- Not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres. Inspect and clean the impeller, motor and guards at least every 12 months.
You'll also need
- Elta matching flanges 450mm (061B-0450) (sold each, one per ducted side)
- Elta 149-TC33 three phase transformer speed controller (available to order, ask us)
- Eltadrive 149-ODE3-14075-3KA1B inverter for a three phase supply (or 149-ODE3-12075-1KB1B from single phase; available to order, ask us)
- Elta APK450/003 ancillary pack (flexible connections, matching flanges, AV mounts and mounting feet in one code; available to order, ask us)

What size duct does the Elta SLC450/4-3AC fit?
It is a 450mm fan with 450mm inside the casing. The flanges are 530mm outside diameter with 8 holes of 12mm on a 500mm PCD, and the case is 375mm long.
How much air does it move?
Up to 6991 m³/h (1.942 m³/s) at free air, falling to 4601 m³/h at 150 Pa, the highest pressure in Elta's table for this model.
Is the SLC450/4-3AC single or three phase?
Three phase, 380-415V 50Hz, star connected as supplied. Peak current is 0.97 A.
Can I control the speed of the SLC450/4-3AC?
Yes. Elta list the 149-TC33 three phase transformer controller, or an Eltadrive inverter: 149-ODE3-14075-3KA1B on a three phase supply or 149-ODE3-12075-1KB1B from single phase (motor reconnected to delta, per the installation manual).
How noisy is it?
56 dB(A) at 3m in free field, per Elta's data. Elta offer podded and unpodded silencers in 1D and 2D lengths for this size if you need it quieter.
Can it be mounted outside or vertically?
Yes. The galvanised casing is suitable for external mounting as standard and the fan can be mounted at any angle. For explosive atmospheres you need the ATEX rated Elta SLCX range instead.
