Summary
See more specification See less specification
The Elta SLC450/2-1AC is a 450mm Revolution long cased axial fan and the only two pole single phase model at this size. It moves up to 10537 m³/h at free air and 6667 m³/h against 500 Pa, from a 2 pole single phase AC motor running at 2815 rpm.
The casing is heavy gauge steel, hot dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 and suitable for external mounting, with a die cast aluminium aerofoil impeller. The motor is IP55 with sealed for life bearings, wired to an IP55 terminal box on the outside of the case. No speed controller is listed for this model, so it runs at fixed speed. Elta give a 12 month warranty.
- 1 Phase
- AC Motor
- Up to 10537 m³/h
- Fixed Speed
What it is best used for
High resistance duties where only a single phase supply is available: long ducted extract runs from workshops, farm buildings and plant rooms, systems with filters, attenuators or louvres in the line, and kitchen canopy extract where the duct run is long. It still delivers 6667 m³/h at 500 Pa, which is pressure a 4 pole 450mm fan cannot reach.
It is not the fan for noise sensitive spaces or for jobs that need turning down. It is 71 dB(A) at 3m, draws up to 8.8 A, and Elta list no speed controller for it, so treat it as fixed speed. If you need variable speed on a single phase supply, the EC version is the better choice.
Why choose this over alternatives
Against the four pole Elta SLC450/4-1AC, this two pole fan trades noise and running cost for pressure: the 4 pole model moves 6059 m³/h at free air but stops at 100 Pa, while the SLC450/2-1AC still moves around 9904 m³/h at 100 Pa and keeps going to 500 Pa.
If the site has a three phase supply, the Elta SLC450/2A-3AC gives a very similar curve (9929 m³/h free air, 7618 m³/h at 500 Pa) with a peak current of 4.56 A per phase instead of 8.8 A, and it can be inverter controlled. For quiet variable speed on single phase, look at the Elta SLC450-1EC.
Installation notes
- Mount at any angle, horizontally in a duct run or vertically, but make sure the fan is adequately supported: it weighs 34 kg. AV mounts and mounting feet are available from Elta.
- The flanges are 530mm outside diameter with 8 holes of 12mm on a 500mm PCD. Use Elta matching flanges and flexible connectors to join it to ductwork.
- Fit a local isolator, and protect the motor with a starter or controller that has overload protection; fuses and breakers only give short circuit protection. Do not use the isolator for day to day on and off control.
- Wire to diagram 152-502 for 220-240V single phase. Check rotation and airflow direction at first start and that the running current does not exceed the nameplate.
- Not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres. Inspect and clean the impeller, motor and guards at least every 12 months.
You'll also need
- Elta matching flanges 450mm (061B-0450) (sold each, one per ducted side)
- Elta APK450/003 ancillary pack (flexible connections, matching flanges, AV mounts and mounting feet in one code; available to order, ask us)

What size duct does the Elta SLC450/2-1AC fit?
It is a 450mm fan with 450mm inside the casing. The flanges are 530mm outside diameter with 8 holes of 12mm on a 500mm PCD, and the case is 375mm long (dimension C).
How much air does it move?
Up to 10537 m³/h (2.927 m³/s) at free air, falling to 6667 m³/h at 500 Pa, the highest pressure in Elta's table for this model.
Is the SLC450/2-1AC single or three phase?
Single phase, 220-240V 50Hz. Peak current is 8.8 A.
Can I control the speed of the SLC450/2-1AC?
Elta's accessory table lists no speed controller for this two pole single phase model, so treat it as fixed speed. If you need variable speed, the SLC450-1EC or the three phase SLC450/2A-3AC with an Eltadrive inverter are the usual alternatives.
How noisy is it?
71 dB(A) at 3m in free field, per Elta's data. Elta offer podded and unpodded silencers in 1D and 2D lengths for this size if you need it quieter.
Can it be mounted outside or vertically?
Yes. The galvanised casing is suitable for external mounting as standard and the fan can be mounted at any angle. For explosive atmospheres you need the ATEX rated Elta SLCX range instead.
