Summary
See more specification See less specification
The Elta SDA630/4-1EC is a 630mm Raptor SDA short cased axial fan for fitting in 630mm ductwork. It moves up to 12233 m³/h in free air, 9634 m³/h at 100 Pa and still 7682 m³/h at 150 Pa, the highest pressure in Elta's published table for this model.
A single phase EC external rotor motor (200-277V 50/60Hz) with an integrated variable speed drive runs at up to 1056 rpm and draws 737 W at best efficiency (3.42 A peak), with internal electronic overload protection. Speed is set by a 0-10V signal or Elta's 149-POT-10-MI potentiometer. The Ziehl-Abegg FE2owlet aerofoil impeller has serrated trailing edges and winglets for lower noise, the mild steel case is powder coated in RAL 7045 with an IP55 terminal box, the motor is IP54, and Elta give a 12 month warranty.

What it is best used for
The biggest Raptor SDA size, for high volume ducted ventilation on 630mm duct in sports halls, factories, warehousing and large retail units. At 50 Pa it moves 10991 m³/h, roughly 6 air changes an hour in a space of about 1830 m³.
Above 150 Pa Elta publish no figures, so for long duct runs with filters, heater batteries or attenuators an inline mixed flow or centrifugal box fan is the safer choice. It is not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres, and the air must stay between -20°C and +70°C.
Why choose this over alternatives
There are 4 Raptor SDA models in the 630mm case, and the choice comes down to supply, noise and control. This EC version gives fully variable speed from a 0-10V signal with no separate controller needed for BMS control, and at 46.3% overall efficiency it is more efficient than any AC model in this size (the best is the SDA630/68-3AC at 33.8%). In the same size there is also the Elta SDA630/6-1AC (6 pole single phase, 10746 m³/h, 49 dB(A)), the Elta SDA630/68-3AC (two speed three phase, 10800 m³/h, 49 dB(A)) and the Elta SDA630/4-3EC (three phase EC, 13774 m³/h, 56 dB(A)).
For a smaller duct the Elta SDA500/4-1EC gives 8582 m³/h. If the fan will sit in a wall or panel rather than in a duct, the Elta SPA630/4-1EC plate fan uses the same Raptor impeller and motor family on a square mounting plate.
Installation notes
- Fit it in the duct run at any angle, securely supported, with access for maintenance. The case is 250mm long with 16 holes of 12mm on a 674mm PCD at each end for Elta matching flanges 061A-0630-C, and mounting feet 060A-0630-C are available.
- Wire to Elta diagram 152-MOEA03K1 through the fitted terminal box (21mm cable entry). For variable speed connect a 0-10V signal or the 149-POT-10-MI potentiometer to the 10V, E1 and GND terminals.
- Disconnect the fan before any insulation resistance testing. Elta warn this can damage the EC electronics and is not covered by warranty.
- Fit a local means of isolation, and site the discharge so exhaust cannot be drawn back into a room through the open flue of a gas or fuel burning appliance.
- At first start check rotation, airflow direction and that the running current is within the rating plate. Inspect and clean the blades and guards at least every 12 months.
You'll also need
- Elta EC electronic controller 149-POT-10-MI (the potentiometer controller Elta list for every EC Raptor SDA)
- Elta ancillary pack APK630SCD/002 (flexible connections, matching flanges, anti-vibration mounts and mounting feet) available to order, ask us

How much air does the Elta SDA630/4-1EC move?
Up to 12233 m³/h in free air, 10991 m³/h at 50 Pa, 9634 m³/h at 100 Pa and 7682 m³/h at 150 Pa.
What size duct does the SDA630/4-1EC fit?
630mm. The case has a 634mm internal diameter and 16 flange holes of 12mm on a 674mm PCD at each end, which match Elta's 061A-0630-C matching flanges.
How do I control the speed?
The motor has a built in variable speed drive. Use Elta's 149-POT-10-MI potentiometer, which we stock, or a 0-10V signal from a BMS. At a 5V signal it still moves 5598 m³/h at 41 dB(A).
How noisy is it?
Elta quote 53 dB(A) at the inlet and 53 dB(A) at the outlet at 3m at full speed. Matching 1D and 2D flanged silencers (068-0630) are available to order if you need it quieter.
What power supply does it need?
A single phase 200-277V 50/60Hz supply. Peak current is 3.42 A at 230V, and Elta wiring diagram 152-MOEA03K1 applies. It must be wired by a qualified electrician with a local isolator.
Can it be mounted vertically or outside the building?
It can be mounted at any angle, horizontal or vertical. The motor is IP54 with an IP55 terminal box and the fan handles air from -20°C to +70°C, but it is designed to sit in ductwork rather than be exposed to the weather; on an external wall fit a weather cowl such as Elta SWC56/63.
