Summary
See more specification See less specification
The Elta SDA560/46-3AC is a 560mm Raptor SDA short cased axial fan for fitting in 560mm ductwork. It moves up to 11153 m³/h in free air, 9688 m³/h at 100 Pa and still 7906 m³/h at 200 Pa, the highest pressure in Elta's published table for this model. On low speed (star) it moves 8453 m³/h for quieter running.
The 4/6 pole three phase AC external rotor motor (380-415V 50Hz) runs at 1295 rpm in delta and 916 rpm in star, drawing 1169 W and 2.52 A on high speed. It is insulated to Class F with integral thermal overload protection. The Ziehl-Abegg FE2owlet aerofoil impeller has serrated trailing edges and winglets for lower noise, the mild steel case is powder coated in RAL 7045 with an IP55 terminal box, the motor is IP54, and Elta give a 12 month warranty.
- 3 Phase
- AC Motor
- Up to 11153 m³/h
- Speed Controllable
What it is best used for
High volume ducted extract or supply on 560mm duct for sports halls, factories, industrial units, warehousing and retail parks. At 50 Pa it moves 10526 m³/h, roughly 6 air changes an hour in a space of about 1750 m³.
It still gives 7906 m³/h at 200 Pa, but Elta publish no figures for it beyond that, so very high resistance systems need a mixed flow or centrifugal fan. It is not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres, and the air must stay between -20°C and +70°C. It needs a 380 to 415V three phase supply.
Why choose this over alternatives
There are 3 Raptor SDA models in the 560mm case, and the choice comes down to supply, noise and control. This three phase version has two built in speeds from star/delta switching and draws only 2.52 A per phase on high speed. In the same size there is also the Elta SDA560/4-1AC (4 pole single phase, 11678 m³/h, 63 dB(A)) and the Elta SDA560/6-1AC (6 pole single phase, 7891 m³/h, 52 dB(A)).
For a smaller duct the Elta SDA500/46-3AC gives 8813 m³/h. If the fan will sit in a wall or panel rather than in a duct, the Elta SPA560/46-3AC plate fan uses the same Raptor impeller and motor family on a square mounting plate.
Installation notes
- Fit it in the duct run at any angle, securely supported, with access for maintenance. The case is 272mm long with 16 holes of 12mm on a 605mm PCD at each end for Elta matching flanges 061A-0560-C, and mounting feet 060A-0560-C are available.
- Wire to Elta diagram 152-108: delta connection gives high speed, star gives low speed, and a star/delta switch can select between them. Swap any two supply phases to reverse rotation.
- For variable speed Elta pair it with the 149-TC33 three phase transformer controller. Wire the thermal contacts (TB TB) into the starter or controller circuit so the motor is protected.
- Fit a local means of isolation, and site the discharge so exhaust cannot be drawn back into a room through the open flue of a gas or fuel burning appliance.
- At first start check rotation, airflow direction and that the running current is within the rating plate. Inspect and clean the blades and guards at least every 12 months.

How much air does the Elta SDA560/46-3AC move?
Up to 11153 m³/h in free air, 10526 m³/h at 50 Pa, 9688 m³/h at 100 Pa and 7906 m³/h at 200 Pa. On low speed it moves 8453 m³/h in free air.
What size duct does the SDA560/46-3AC fit?
560mm. The case has a 560mm internal diameter and 16 flange holes of 12mm on a 605mm PCD at each end, which match Elta's 061A-0560-C matching flanges.
Is it two speed?
Yes. Delta connection runs it at 1295 rpm and star at 916 rpm. For five step variable speed Elta specify the 149-TC33 three phase transformer controller, which we can order in.
How noisy is it?
Elta quote 57 dB(A) at the inlet and 57 dB(A) at the outlet at 3m on high speed, and 51 dB(A) on low speed. Matching 1D and 2D flanged silencers (068-0560) are available to order if you need it quieter.
What power supply does it need?
A three phase 380-415V 50Hz supply. Peak current is 2.52 A at 400V, and Elta wiring diagram 152-108 applies. It must be wired by a qualified electrician with a local isolator.
Can it be mounted vertically or outside the building?
It can be mounted at any angle, horizontal or vertical. The motor is IP54 with an IP55 terminal box and the fan handles air from -20°C to +70°C, but it is designed to sit in ductwork rather than be exposed to the weather; on an external wall fit a weather cowl such as Elta SWC56/63.
