Summary

The Elta SCP710/6/8-3AC is a 710mm Compact SCP plate mounted axial fan with a two speed three phase motor, moving up to 15044 m³/h on high speed and working against static pressures up to 100 Pa. On low speed it moves 12784 m³/h at 52 dB(A).

The 380-415V AC induction motor runs at 900 rpm in delta and 740 rpm in star, with greased for life ball bearings, drawing 890 W and 2.35 A on high speed. The Series 1 impeller has adjustable pitch GRP aerofoil blades, the plate and motor are powder coated Telegrey (RAL 7045), an IP55 terminal box is fitted on 550mm of flexible conduit, and Elta give a 12 month warranty.

  • 3 Phase
  • AC Motor
  • Up to 15044 m³/h
  • Speed Controllable

What it is best used for

Moving large volumes of air against low resistance on three phase sites: factories, warehouses, industrial units, sports halls, shops and school halls. At 15044 m³/h it gives about 6 air changes an hour in a 2500 m³ space, for example 40m x 15.6m with a 4m ceiling.

Its pressure runs out at 100 Pa, so for louvres with high resistance or ducting choose the SCP710/4/6-3AC or a cased axial fan. When speed controlled, Elta limit the operating temperature to +50°C (+70°C at fixed speed). It is not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres.

Why choose this over alternatives

The faster Elta SCP710/4/6-3AC moves 17921 m³/h and works up to 200 Pa, but draws 1.58 kW at 62 dB(A). This /6/8 version uses 890 W and runs at 56 dB(A). The Raptor Elta SPA710/68-3AC is the closest alternative, moving 14548 m³/h at 49 dB(A) and up to 150 Pa. For single phase with EC control, the Elta SCP710-1EC moves up to 17273 m³/h.

Installation notes

  • Mount the fan plate securely at any angle using the four 10mm fixing holes on 810mm centres. Make sure the structure can carry its 30 kg and leave access for maintenance.
  • Wire to Elta diagram 152-614. Delta connection gives high speed and star gives low speed. The thermal cut-out must be wired into the starter control circuit, and Elta advise a starter panel with overload protection, as fuses only give short circuit protection.
  • For variable speed, Elta list the 149-TC310 three phase transformer controller or an Eltadrive 3 phase to 3 phase inverter (149-ODE3-14075-3KA1B).
  • Do not use the isolator for day to day on and off control. Elta warn this shortens motor life; use a controller or switch instead.
  • At first start check rotation, airflow direction and that the running current does not exceed the rating plate. Inspect and clean blades and guards at least every 12 months.

How much air does the Elta SCP710/6/8-3AC move?

Up to 15044 m³/h on high speed, 13255 m³/h at 50 Pa and 10595 m³/h at 100 Pa. Low speed gives 12784 m³/h in free air.

What is the difference between the SCP710/6/8-3AC and SCP710/4/6-3AC?

The /4/6 runs faster for 17921 m³/h and up to 200 Pa at 62 dB(A). The /6/8 moves 15044 m³/h up to 100 Pa but is quieter at 56 dB(A) and uses less power.

How can I control its speed?

Two fixed speeds by star/delta switching, or variable speed with the Elta 149-TC310 transformer controller or the Eltadrive 149-ODE3-14075-3KA1B inverter, both available to order.

What size plate does it need?

850 x 850mm with four 10mm holes on 810mm centres, for a 710mm opening.

Can it be mounted horizontally?

Yes. The compact low profile design suits vertical or horizontal mounting, and the fan can be fitted at any angle.

What temperature can it run at?

-20°C to +70°C at fixed speed, and up to +50°C when speed controlled.
