Summary

The Elta SCP710/4/6-3AC is a 710mm Compact SCP plate mounted axial fan with a two speed three phase motor, moving up to 17921 m³/h on high speed and working against static pressures up to 200 Pa. On low speed it still moves 15397 m³/h.
The 380-415V AC induction motor runs at 1346 rpm in delta and 1114 rpm in star, with greased for life ball bearings, drawing 1.58 kW and 3.68 A on high speed. The Series 1 impeller has adjustable pitch GRP aerofoil blades, the plate and motor are powder coated, an IP55 terminal box is fitted on 550mm of flexible conduit, and Elta give a 12 month warranty.
- 3 Phase
- AC Motor
- Up to 17921 m³/h
- Speed Controllable
What it is best used for
Through-wall extract or supply on three phase sites in warehouses, distribution sheds, factories, sports halls and large industrial units, often as a bank of fans along one wall. At 17921 m³/h it gives about 6 air changes an hour in a space of roughly 2964 m³, for example 39m x 19m with a 4m ceiling.
The datasheet shows airflow up to 200 Pa, so it handles a louvre shutter, cowl or very short duct, but it is not the fan for long ducted runs; use a cased axial or inline mixed flow fan there. When speed controlled Elta limit the air temperature to +50°C (+70°C at fixed speed), and it is not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres.
Why choose this over alternatives
Against the slower Elta SCP710/6/8-3AC (15044 m³/h, up to 100 Pa, 890 W, 56 dB(A)), this 4/6 pole version moves about a fifth more air and works to twice the pressure, at the cost of more power and noise. The single phase Elta SCP710-1EC gives 17273 m³/h, up to 400 Pa, 1.36 kW, 71 dB(A) with built in EC speed control.
Installation notes
- Mount the 850 x 850mm fan plate securely at any angle using the four 10mm holes on 810mm centres. Make sure the structure can carry its 30 kg and leave access for maintenance.
- Wire to Elta diagram 152-614. Delta connection gives high speed and star gives low speed. The thermal cut-out must be wired into the starter control circuit.
- For variable speed Elta list the 149-TC310 five step transformer controller or an Eltadrive inverter (149-ODE3-24220-3KA4B 3 phase to 3 phase).
- Fuses and circuit breakers only give short circuit protection, so Elta advise a starter with overload protection. Do not use the isolator for day to day on and off control, as it shortens motor life.
- At first start check rotation (swap any two supply phases to reverse it) and that the running current does not exceed the rating plate. Inspect and clean blades and guards at least every 12 months.

How much air does the Elta SCP710/4/6-3AC move?
Up to 17921 m³/h in free air, and 16596 m³/h at 50 Pa, 15073 m³/h at 100 Pa, 13054 m³/h at 150 Pa and 7866 m³/h at 200 Pa. On low speed (star) it moves 15397 m³/h.
What size hole and plate does it need?
It fits a 710mm opening. The square plate is 850 x 850mm with four 10mm fixing holes on 810mm centres.
Does it need a three phase supply?
Yes, 380-415V 50Hz. For a single phase site choose the SCP710-1EC.
How can I control the speed?
Elta list the 149-TC310 five step transformer controller and the 149-ODE3-24220-3KA4B inverter. Speed controlled, the maximum air temperature is +50°C.
How do the two speeds work?
Wired in delta it runs at 1346 rpm and 17921 m³/h; wired in star it runs at 1114 rpm, 15397 m³/h and 1.09 kW. A star/delta switch or starter selects the speed.
Can it be mounted horizontally?
Yes. Elta say the fan can be mounted at any angle, so it suits walls, bulkheads and horizontal panels.
