Summary
See more specification See less specification
The Elta SCP450-1EC is a 450mm Compact SCP plate mounted axial fan with a single phase EC motor, moving up to 7337 m³/h at full speed and working against static pressures up to 200 Pa. Speed is fully variable, so one fan can be set to the duty you need.
The IE5 efficiency EC motor has an integrated variable speed drive, runs on 220-277V 50/60Hz and reaches 1800 rpm at 10V, drawing 424 W and 3.99 A. Speed is set by a 2-10V DC signal, 4-20mA, a PWM signal (10-95%) or a potentiometer. The Series 1 impeller has adjustable pitch GRP aerofoil blades, an IP55 terminal box is fitted on trailing leads, and Elta give a 12 month warranty.

What it is best used for
Through-wall ventilation that needs variable or BMS controlled speed on a single phase supply in factory units, workshops, warehouses, sports halls and large commercial kitchens where air is moved straight through a wall or bulkhead. At 7337 m³/h it gives about 6 air changes an hour in a space of roughly 1200 m³, for example 25m x 12m with a 4m ceiling. Turned down to 8V it still moves 5609 m³/h at 53 dB(A).
Its pressure (up to 200 Pa on the datasheet) is high for a plate fan, but it is still not a ducted fan for long runs; use a cased axial or inline mixed flow fan there. EC fans are rated for air up to +60°C, and it is not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres.
Why choose this over alternatives
Against the single phase AC Elta SCP450/4-1AC (5231 m³/h, up to 100 Pa, 335 W, 51 dB(A)), this EC version needs no separate transformer controller and gives stepless control from a BMS signal. The three phase Elta SCP450/4-3AC gives 6138 m³/h, up to 100 Pa, 373 W, 53 dB(A). Elta's Raptor Elta SPA450/4-1EC is the other single phase EC plate fan at this size (5162 m³/h, up to 100 Pa, 300 W, 54 dB(A)). At reduced speed EC power falls sharply, which is where it saves running cost over a fixed speed AC fan.
Installation notes
- Mount the 575 x 575mm fan plate securely at any angle using the four 10mm holes on 535mm centres, and leave access for maintenance.
- Supply is 220-277V single phase 50/60Hz. Wire to Elta diagram 152-711. The fitted 149-CD-POT commissioning trimmer sets the maximum speed; remove its jumper when using an external 149-POT-10-MI potentiometer, 2-10V, 4-20mA or PWM signal.
- Keep control cables within Elta's limits: 10m for a voltage or PWM signal, 300m for 4-20mA.
- Allow at least 5 minutes between starts from the mains supply, and do not use the isolator for day to day control. High voltage can remain in the motor for up to 10 minutes after isolation.
- At first start check rotation and airflow direction. Inspect and clean blades and guards at least every 12 months.
You'll also need
- Elta EC electronic controller 149-POT-10-MI for manual speed control.

How much air does the Elta SCP450-1EC move?
Up to 7337 m³/h at 10V in free air, and 6883 m³/h at 50 Pa, 6314 m³/h at 100 Pa, 5558 m³/h at 150 Pa and 4547 m³/h at 200 Pa.
How is the speed controlled?
The EC motor has a built in drive. Use the Elta 149-POT-10-MI potentiometer, which we stock, or a 2-10V, 4-20mA or PWM signal from a BMS or other controller.
How quiet is it at reduced speed?
60 dB(A) at 3m at 10V, 53 dB(A) at 8V and 44 dB(A) at 5V.
What size hole and plate does it need?
It fits a 450mm opening. The square plate is 575 x 575mm with four 10mm fixing holes on 535mm centres.
Can it run on a normal 230V supply?
Yes. It runs on 220-277V single phase 50/60Hz and draws 424 W at full speed.
Can I switch it on and off at the isolator?
Elta advise against it. Allow at least 5 minutes between mains starts and use a controller or switch for daily control.
