The Elta SCD500/4-1AC is a 500mm Compact SCD cased axial fan with a short 250mm case, built for moving large volumes of air against low resistance. It moves up to 7128 m³/h at free air and 4608 m³/h against 100 Pa, from a 4 pole single phase AC motor running at 1295 rpm.
The mild steel casing is powder coated in Telegrey 1 (RAL 7045) with the motor and adjustable pitch aerofoil impeller held within its length, and an IP55 terminal box is fitted as standard. The single phase TENV motor is Class F insulated with integral thermal overload protection and IP55 rated. Speed control is by a 149-TC18 transformer controller. It is rated for air from -20°C to +70°C at fixed speed (+50°C with a speed controller) and Elta give a 12 month warranty.
- 1 Phase
- AC Motor
- Up to 7128 m³/h
- Speed Controllable
What it is best used for
Moving a lot of air against low resistance on a single phase supply: workshops, industrial units, warehousing and sports facilities, mounted in a duct run or on a wall. It moves 7128 m³/h at free air on 0.411 kW, at 56 dB(A) at 3m.
Its table stops at 100 Pa (4608 m³/h), so keep duct runs short and avoid filters or attenuators in the line; for more pressure, choose a long cased SLC.
Why choose this over alternatives
The three phase Elta SCD500/4-3AC moves 7715 m³/h at free air at the same size. Choose this single phase model where three phase is not available.
Against the long cased Elta SLC500/4A-1AC (7427 m³/h, to 150 Pa), the SCD is a much shorter and lighter fan (250mm case, 21 kg) with a powder coated finish, and costs less. Choose the SLC for higher pressure, external mounting (it is hot dip galvanised and rated for outdoor use as standard) or heavier industrial duty. Need more air? The Elta SCD560/4-1AC moves 11592 m³/h.
Installation notes
- The fan is short (250mm) and light (21 kg), so it fits in a duct run or on a wall where space is tight. Mounting feet and AV mounts are available from Elta.
- The flanges are 567mm outside diameter with 12 holes of 10mm on a 541mm PCD. Use Elta matching flanges and flexible connectors to join it to ductwork.
- Wire to diagram 152-500 for 220-240V single phase via the fitted IP55 terminal box (21mm cable entry). The motor has integral thermal overload protection.
- If you run it on a speed controller, keep the air temperature at or below +50°C (Elta's limit with a controller); at fixed speed it is rated to +70°C.
You'll also need
- Elta matching flanges 061A-0500-C (sold each, one per ducted side; available to order, ask us)
- Elta 149-TC18 transformer speed controller (the controller Elta list for this model)
- Elta APK500SCD/002 ancillary pack (flexible connections, matching flanges, AV mounts and mounting feet in one code; available to order, ask us)
- Elta SWC45/50 wall cowl (for wall mounted installs; available to order, ask us)

What size duct does the Elta SCD500/4-1AC fit?
It is a 500mm fan with 500mm inside the casing. The flanges are 567mm outside diameter with 12 holes of 10mm on a 541mm PCD, and the case is 250mm long.
How much air does it move?
Up to 7128 m³/h (1.980 m³/s) at free air, falling to 4608 m³/h at 100 Pa, the highest pressure in Elta's table for this model.
Is the SCD500/4-1AC single or three phase?
Single phase, 220-240V 50Hz. Peak current is 1.97 A.
Which speed controller does the SCD500/4-1AC need?
Elta list the 149-TC18 single phase 5 step transformer controller for this model. Peak current is 1.97 A. Note that with a speed controller Elta rate the fan for air temperatures up to +50°C, against +70°C at fixed speed.
How noisy is it?
56 dB(A) at 3m in free field, per Elta's data. Elta offer 1D and 2D silencers (068-0500 codes) for this size if you need it quieter.
Can it be mounted on a wall?
Yes. It can go in a duct run or on a wall, and Elta list the SWC45/50 wall cowl and an impeller side guard (078C-0500-C) for wall installs. For exposed outdoor positions, the hot dip galvanised SLC range is rated for external mounting as standard.
