Summary

The Elta SCD315/4-3AC is a 315mm Compact SCD cased axial fan with a short 180mm case, built for moving large volumes of air against low resistance. It moves up to 2102 m³/h at free air and 1861 m³/h against 25 Pa, from a 4 pole three phase AC motor running at 1440 rpm.

The mild steel casing is powder coated in Telegrey 1 (RAL 7045) with the motor and adjustable pitch aerofoil impeller held within its length, and an IP55 terminal box is fitted as standard. The three phase TENV motor is IP55, multi voltage (star 400V as supplied, or delta 230V three phase) and suits the Eltadrive inverter range or a 149-TC33 transformer controller. It is rated for air from -20°C to +70°C at fixed speed (+50°C with a speed controller) and Elta give a 12 month warranty.

What it is best used for

Moving a lot of air against low resistance on a three phase supply: small plant rooms, stores, kitchens and shops, mounted in a duct run or on a wall. It moves 2102 m³/h at free air on 0.12 kW, at 50 dB(A) at 3m.

Its table stops at 25 Pa (1861 m³/h), so it is only for very short duct runs or through the wall; for any real duct resistance choose a long cased SLC instead.

Why choose this over alternatives

The single phase Elta SCD315/4-1AC moves 1854 m³/h at the same size. Choose this three phase model where you have a three phase supply and want inverter control, as Elta rate the three phase motor for use with the Eltadrive range.

Against the long cased Elta SLC315/4-3AC (1440 m³/h, to 75 Pa), the SCD is a much shorter and lighter fan (180mm case, 9 kg) with a powder coated finish, and costs less. Choose the SLC for higher pressure, external mounting (it is hot dip galvanised and rated for outdoor use as standard) or heavier industrial duty. Need more air? The Elta SCD350/4-3AC moves 2239 m³/h.

Installation notes

  • The fan is short (180mm) and light (9 kg), so it fits in a duct run or on a wall where space is tight. Mounting feet and AV mounts are available from Elta.
  • The flanges are 382mm outside diameter with 8 holes of 10mm on a 356mm PCD. Use Elta matching flanges and flexible connectors to join it to ductwork.
  • Supplied star (Y) connected for 400V three phase, wiring diagram 152-611, via the fitted IP55 terminal box (21mm cable entry). The motor can be reconnected to delta for 230V three phase from an inverter.
  • If you run it on a speed controller, keep the air temperature at or below +50°C (Elta's limit with a controller); at fixed speed it is rated to +70°C.

You'll also need

  • Elta matching flanges 061A-0315-C (sold each, one per ducted side; available to order, ask us)
  • Elta 149-TC33 three phase transformer speed controller (available to order, ask us)

What size duct does the Elta SCD315/4-3AC fit?

It is a 315mm fan with 315mm inside the casing. The flanges are 382mm outside diameter with 8 holes of 10mm on a 356mm PCD, and the case is 180mm long.

How much air does it move?

Up to 2102 m³/h (0.584 m³/s) at free air, falling to 1861 m³/h at 25 Pa, the highest pressure in Elta's table for this model.

Is the SCD315/4-3AC single or three phase?

Three phase, 380-415V 50Hz, star connected as supplied. Peak current is 0.33 A.

Can I control the speed of the SCD315/4-3AC?

Yes. Elta list the 149-TC33 three phase transformer controller, or an Eltadrive inverter: 149-ODE3-14075-3KA1B on a three phase supply or 149-ODE3-12037-1K1B from single phase. With a speed controller Elta rate the fan for air up to +50°C, against +70°C at fixed speed.

How noisy is it?

50 dB(A) at 3m in free field, per Elta's data. Elta offer 1D and 2D silencers (068-0315 codes) for this size if you need it quieter.

Can it be mounted on a wall?

Yes. It can go in a duct run or on a wall, and Elta list the SWC25/31 wall cowl and an impeller side guard (078C-0315-C) for wall installs. For exposed outdoor positions, the hot dip galvanised SLC range is rated for external mounting as standard.
