The Elta SAX30/12ARB is a 305mm (12 inch) through-wall axial fan from Elta's Classic SAX range, moving up to 1908 m³/h against static pressures up to 80 Pa. It arrives as a complete wall kit: fan, telescopic steel wall liner for walls 240 to 315mm thick, slow moving delay action shutters and a 5 speed reversible controller in the box.
Run it to extract, reverse it to draw fresh air in, or stop the fan with the shutters held open. The single phase AC motor has sealed for life bearings and Class B insulation, the housing is shock proof, heat resistant white plastic rated IPX4, and Elta backs it with a two year warranty.

What it is best used for
Direct through-wall ventilation where there is no ductwork and a 9 inch fan is not enough: larger staff rooms, stockrooms, workshops, garages, gyms and general ventilation in light commercial spaces. At 1908 m³/h it gives roughly 10 air changes an hour in a room of about 190 m³, for example 10m x 7m with a 2.7m ceiling.
It is not the right fan for ducted runs or grease-laden kitchen canopy extract. With 80 Pa of pressure and a 40°C air temperature limit, a ducted job needs an inline mixed flow fan instead.
Why choose this over alternatives
Many 12 inch commercial wall fans need their controller buying separately. The SAX30/12ARB includes the telescopic liner, shutters and a reversible 5 speed controller as standard, so one part number covers the whole job. For a smaller room, the Elta SAX23/9ARB is the 230mm version, moving up to 828 m³/h through a 365 x 365mm opening.
Installation notes
- Cut a square opening of 440 x 440mm. The telescopic liner adjusts to walls 240 to 315mm thick.
- The fan must be wired to the controller supplied in the box. It comes with a 5m 4 core cable, so plan the controller position before you cut the hole.
- In rooms with an open-flued gas or solid fuel appliance, make sure there is enough make-up air so the fan cannot pull flue gases back into the room.
- Inspect and clean the blades, motor and guards at least once every 12 months.
Common replacement for
