What it is best used for
Larger single phase systems on 550mm ductwork: commercial kitchen canopy extract, restaurant and bar ventilation, plant rooms, warehouses and workshops, and general HVAC supply or extract. It keeps 4680 m³/h at 100 Pa, 3827 m³/h at 200 Pa and still 2365 m³/h at 300 Pa.
Above about 300 Pa the airflow drops sharply (1076 m³/h at 350 Pa). If you have three phase available, the SMB550/4-3AC moves far more air from the same casing.
Why choose this over alternatives
Against the three phase SMB550/4-3AC, this single phase model moves much less air (5314 against 7952 m³/h in free air), because the single phase motor is smaller (0.574 kW against 1.064 kW). Choose this one only where a three phase supply is not available.

Installation notes
- Mount the fan at any angle in the duct run, securely supported, and leave access for maintenance. It weighs 41 kg.
- Connect with the 550mm Ductmate flanges at each end. Elta's flexible connectors (063-0550-MFB) and anti vibration mounts (062-003) reduce transmitted noise and vibration.
- Wire to Elta diagram 152-104A on a 230V single phase supply. The thermal cut out terminals (TB) must be connected into the control circuit, and Elta specify the 149-TC110 transformer controller for speed control.
- Fit a means of isolation and earth the fan. Fuses and breakers only give short circuit protection, so Elta advise a starter with overload protection for the motor. Check rotation, airflow direction and running current on first start.
- Not for corrosive or explosive atmospheres. Locate the discharge away from open flues, and inspect and clean the impeller and motor at least every 12 months.
