The Elta Multiflow SEL315/2B-1AC is a 315mm mixed flow inline duct fan with a single phase 2 pole AC motor, moving up to 3510 m³/h in free air and 3326 m³/h against 100 Pa. A diagonal mixed flow impeller and 3D stator guide vanes give it far more pressure than an axial fan of the same diameter.
The motor runs at 2776 rpm on 220 to 240V 50Hz, absorbing 0.515 kW at its best efficiency point with integral thermal overload protection, and it is wired through an integral IP44 terminal box. The casing is weatherproofed to IPX4, the fan mounts at any angle on its integral bracket, and Elta give a 12 month warranty.

What it is best used for
Demanding duct systems on 315mm duct with only a single phase supply: long runs with heat recovery, filters and attenuators, commercial kitchen extract, sports centres, airport and retail back of house areas. It keeps 3326 m³/h at 100 Pa, 2848 m³/h at 300 Pa and still 2531 m³/h at 400 Pa.
It is a 2 pole fan running at 2776 rpm, so it is louder than a 4 pole fan (55 dB(A) inlet, 61 dB(A) outlet at 3m). Fit silencers near occupied rooms, and keep it indoors in a dry space.
Why choose this over alternatives
Against the standard SEL315/2A-1AC (2354 m³/h free air), the 2B high performance build moves about half as much air again (3510 m³/h) and still delivers 2531 m³/h at 400 Pa, where the 2A has all but stalled. Against the SEL355/2-1AC, it keeps you on 315mm duct at about half the power.
Installation notes
- The fan can be mounted in any orientation. Slide it into the duct and fix it with the integral mounting bracket, making sure the ductwork is not strained, and connect duct to both inlet and outlet so no moving parts are accessible.
- Elta recommend padded connection sleeves or fast clamps (018-315-CLAMP) to cut noise transmitted into the ductwork. Run the airflow in the direction marked on the casing.
- Wire into the integral IP44 terminal box to Elta diagram 152-540. Elta specify the 149-TC14 5 step transformer controller (4 A) for speed control; at lower steps the fan runs at 2540, 2295 and 1760 rpm.
- The internal thermal protection does not protect the motor if the impeller is blocked, so where that could happen fit a motor protection switch with thermal and magnetic release. Fit a means of isolation and earth the fan.
- Install indoors in a dry, condensation free space: Elta's installation manual says SEL fans must not be operated out of doors, and they are not for explosive atmospheres. Clean the impeller and casing at the recommended intervals; an upstream filter extends them.
