The Elta Multiflow SEL250/2-1AC is a 250mm mixed flow inline duct fan with a single phase 2 pole AC motor, moving up to 1631 m³/h in free air and 1465 m³/h against 100 Pa. A diagonal mixed flow impeller and 3D stator guide vanes give it far more pressure than an axial fan of the same diameter.
The motor runs at 2684 rpm on 220 to 240V 50Hz, absorbing 0.162 kW at its best efficiency point with integral thermal overload protection, and it is wired through an integral IP44 terminal box. The casing is weatherproofed to IPX4, the fan mounts at any angle on its integral bracket, and Elta give a 12 month warranty.

What it is best used for
Compact, high pressure extract or supply on 250mm duct with a single phase supply: changing rooms, toilet blocks in sports centres and schools, small commercial kitchens behind a filtered canopy, hotel corridors and office plant. It keeps 1465 m³/h at 100 Pa and 1127 m³/h at 250 Pa from a casing only 250mm in diameter.
Its curve collapses above 250 Pa (389 m³/h at 300 Pa), so do not select it for a system that needs more than about 250 Pa. For more air or pressure on 315mm duct, see the SEL315/2A-1AC.
Why choose this over alternatives
Mixed flow gives the SEL250 far more pressure than a 250mm axial fan and a smaller casing than a centrifugal box fan, with Elta's 3D stator guide vanes turning swirl into useful pressure. Against the 250mm Jetflow SJMF250 EC fan (1606 m³/h free air), the SEL250/2-1AC moves a little more air (1631 m³/h), with simple 5 step transformer control instead of a 0-10V signal.
Installation notes
- The fan can be mounted in any orientation. Slide it into the duct and fix it with the integral mounting bracket, making sure the ductwork is not strained, and connect duct to both inlet and outlet so no moving parts are accessible.
- Elta recommend padded connection sleeves or fast clamps (018-250-CLAMP) to cut noise transmitted into the ductwork. Run the airflow in the direction marked on the casing.
- Wire into the integral IP44 terminal box to Elta diagram 152-539. Elta specify the 149-TC12 5 step transformer controller (2 A) for speed control; at lower steps the fan runs at 2435, 2100 and 1490 rpm.
- The internal thermal protection does not protect the motor if the impeller is blocked, so where that could happen fit a motor protection switch with thermal and magnetic release. Fit a means of isolation and earth the fan.
- Install indoors in a dry, condensation free space: Elta's installation manual says SEL fans must not be operated out of doors, and they are not for explosive atmospheres. Clean the impeller and casing at the recommended intervals; an upstream filter extends them.
