What it is best used for
High volume commercial systems on 315mm duct: restaurant and cafe dining areas, sports hall changing rooms, larger office floors, retail units and hotel communal areas. It keeps 2783 m³/h at 100 Pa and 1584 m³/h at 400 Pa, so it handles long runs with filters, heater batteries and silencers.
At 0.375 kW and 62 dB(A) at 3m it is a substantial fan, so plan for silencers in noise sensitive areas, and do not use it on grease laden canopy extract or in corrosive or explosive atmospheres. If noise matters more than the last few percent of airflow, the Elta SJMF315-S is the acoustic version.

Installation notes
- The fan can be mounted at any angle. Fix it securely to a solid surface and leave access for cleaning and maintenance. Sizes 150mm and above have a detachable mounting bracket.
- Connect to 315mm duct with Elta fast clamps (018-315-CLAMP) or flexible connectors so the fan can be removed later. Elta recommend silencers on the inlet and outlet in noise sensitive areas.
- Mains connection is by the fitted 1.5m lead and UK 3 pin plug with a 3A fuse. The fan is supplied for fixed speed; for speed control, remove the 3.5mm jack plug and connect the supplied jack cable to a 149-POT-10-MI, 0-10V or PWM signal (wiring diagram 152-553).
- Do not supply it through a timer or a regularly switched circuit: the EC motor has internal overload protection and may restart unexpectedly once it cools. Indoor use only, ambient -10°C to +60°C, not for corrosive or explosive atmospheres.
- Locate the discharge so exhaust cannot be drawn back through the open flue of a gas or solid fuel appliance, and inspect and clean the fan at least every 12 months.

It has 315mm circular spigots at each end. Elta recommend fast clamps or flexible connectors so it can be taken out for maintenance.
How much air does the SJMF315 move?
Up to 2934 m³/h (0.815 m³/s) in free air at full speed, 2783 m³/h at 100 Pa and 1584 m³/h at 400 Pa, the highest pressure in Elta's table for this size.
Does the SJMF315 plug into a normal socket?
Yes. It comes with a 1.5m mains lead and a UK 3 pin plug with a 3A fuse, which also gives you a simple means of isolation. It runs single phase 220 to 240V.
How do I control the speed of the SJMF315?
Remove the 3.5mm jack plug and connect the supplied 5m jack lead to an Elta 149-POT-10-MI controller, a 0-10V signal from a BMS or a PWM signal. It works from a 2V control signal upwards.
How noisy is the SJMF315?
Elta quote 62 dB(A) inlet and 62 dB(A) outlet at 3m at full speed. Spigot silencers from 300 to 1200mm long are available, or choose the acoustically enclosed SJMF315-S for quieter running.
Can the SJMF315 be mounted vertically?
Yes. Elta state the fan can be mounted at any angle, as long as it is securely supported and accessible for maintenance.
