The Elta HAVA340H is a whole house MVHR unit that extracts stale, humid air from wet rooms and supplies fresh, filtered air to living rooms and bedrooms, recovering up to 90% of the heat through a counterflow plate heat exchanger. It moves up to 100 l/s (360 m³/h), or 83 l/s against 100 Pa.
The EPP construction sits in metal casework, with automatic anti-frost protection and an integral summer bypass. It comes pre-cabled with the CTRL-DSP LCD controller and is PCDB and SAP Appendix Q listed, with Elta SAP data up to kitchen + 6 wet rooms.
- Up to 90% heat recovery
- Up to 360 m³/h
- Horizontal, ceiling mounted
- PCDB and SAP Appendix Q listed
What it is best used for
Larger flats and houses with up to six wet rooms plus a kitchen, where the unit must go flat in a loft or ceiling void.
It must be mounted horizontally and completely flat for the condensate to drain. Elta do not publish a heat exchange figure for the kitchen plus 6 wet room setting.
Why choose this over alternatives
MVHR keeps an airtight new build or deep retrofit ventilated around the clock while recovering most of the heat that trickle vents and extract fans throw away, which helps with Part F and the SAP assessment. The HAVA340H adds night mode, holiday mode and a weekly timer on the supplied LCD controller, so occupants can run it quietly overnight without switching it off.
The Elta HAVA180H is the smaller horizontal unit for up to kitchen plus 3 wet rooms, using 125mm spigots.
Installation notes
- Mount indoors in a heated space, horizontally on a flat ceiling that carries its weight, using the supplied spacers. It must be completely flat for the condensate to drain.
- Connect the condensate elbows to a dry trap before waste, so drain smells cannot enter the system, and route the pipe so the access panel can still be removed for servicing.
- Anti-vibration mounts (not supplied) are recommended. Leave access to the filters, terminal box and inspection door.
- Connect the CTRL-DSP with a 4 core twisted pair cable up to 30m. A humidity or air quality sensor on the IAQ input raises the speed by 15%.
- Insulate the ductwork to local regulations, commission the supply and extract rates, and clean the heat exchanger once a year with a vacuum cleaner.
You'll also need
- Elta SEN-HY-I wall mounted humidity sensor wires to the unit's volt free sensor input to boost ventilation when humidity rises.
- F7 (ISO ePM1 60%) filters available on request for better supply air filtration, ask us.

What size home is the HAVA340H for?
Elta publish SAP data up to kitchen + 6 wet rooms, which suits larger flats and houses where the unit goes flat in a loft or ceiling void.
How efficient is it?
Heat recovery up to 90% with SFP of 0.78 W/(l/s) at 21 l/s in the SAP Appendix Q data.
Is it SAP listed?
Yes, it is PCDB and SAP Appendix Q listed, so its tested performance can be used in SAP calculations.
Does it have a summer bypass?
Yes, an integral automatic summer bypass, set up in the CTRL-DSP installer menu, with automatic anti-frost protection as well.
What filters does it use?
G4 (ISO Coarse 60%), F7 on request. A filter warning on the controller tells the user when they need cleaning.
Does it need a condensate drain?
Yes. Condensation forms on the heat exchanger, so the drain must be connected through a U-bend or dry trap to waste.
