Summary

The Elta HAVA120HV is a whole house MVHR unit that extracts stale, humid air from wet rooms and supplies fresh, filtered air to living rooms and bedrooms, recovering up to 82% of the heat through an enthalpic counterflow heat exchanger, which recovers moisture as well as heat. It moves up to 32 l/s (115 m³/h), or 25 l/s against 100 Pa.
The EPP construction sits in metal casework, with automatic anti-frost protection. It comes pre-cabled with the CTRL-V1 touch controller and is PCDB and SAP Appendix Q listed, with Elta SAP data up to kitchen + 1 wet room.
- Up to 82% heat recovery
- Up to 115 m³/h
- Horizontal or vertical, 171mm deep
- PCDB and SAP Appendix Q listed
What it is best used for
Flats, apartments and small dwellings with a kitchen and one bathroom, especially where the only space is a shallow ceiling void: the casing is just 171mm deep and can also be wall mounted vertically.
Elta only publish SAP data for a kitchen plus one wet room, and the datasheet lists no summer bypass, so for a second bathroom or en suite step up to the HAVA180H.
Why choose this over alternatives
MVHR keeps an airtight new build or deep retrofit ventilated around the clock while recovering most of the heat that trickle vents and extract fans throw away, which helps with Part F and the SAP assessment. The HAVA120HV brings this to very shallow voids.
The Elta HAVA180H has an integral summer bypass and the CTRL-DSP controller with weekly timer, and is listed up to kitchen plus 3 wet rooms.
Installation notes
- Mount indoors in a heated space, on a flat surface that carries its weight, with at least 300mm clearance for access to the filters and inspection door.
- On a ceiling, fit the supplied spacers on the condensate drain side so the unit tilts 2° and the 16mm winter condensate drain can empty. Wall mounting is also allowed.
- Connect the 16mm condensate drain to the drainage pipe through a U-bend, and insulate ducts to local regulations. Anti-vibration mounts (not supplied) are recommended.
- The CTRL-V1 controller connects with a 6 core cable up to 30m long. Speeds I, II and III are set on dip switches during commissioning.
- Clean the heat exchanger once a year with a vacuum cleaner and keep the filters clean.
You'll also need
- Elta SEN-HY-I wall mounted humidity sensor wires to the unit's volt free sensor input to boost ventilation when humidity rises.
- F7 (ISO ePM1 60%) filters available on request for better supply air filtration, ask us.

What size home is the HAVA120HV for?
Elta publish SAP data up to kitchen + 1 wet room, which suits flats and apartments with one bathroom, especially with a shallow ceiling void.
How efficient is it?
Heat recovery up to 82% with SFP of 1.16 W/(l/s) at 21 l/s in the SAP Appendix Q data.
Is it SAP listed?
Yes, it is PCDB and SAP Appendix Q listed, so its tested performance can be used in SAP calculations.
Can it be mounted vertically?
Yes. The HAVA120HV can go flat in a ceiling (tilted 2° with the supplied spacers) or vertically on a wall.
What filters does it use?
G4 (ISO Coarse 60%) as standard, with F7 (ISO ePM1 60%) available on request.
Does it need a condensate drain?
Yes. Condensation forms on the heat exchanger, so the drain must be connected through a U-bend or dry trap to waste.
