Summary
See more specification See less specification
The Elta HAVA400V is a whole house MVHR unit that extracts stale, humid air from wet rooms and supplies fresh, filtered air to living rooms and bedrooms, recovering up to 84% of the heat through a counterflow plate heat exchanger. It moves up to 112 l/s (403 m³/h), or 100 l/s against 100 Pa.
The EPP construction sits in metal casework, with automatic anti-frost protection and an integral summer bypass. It comes pre-cabled with the CTRL-DSP LCD controller and is PCDB and SAP Appendix Q listed, with Elta SAP data up to kitchen + 7 wet rooms.
- Up to 84% heat recovery
- Up to 403 m³/h
- Vertical, wall mounted
- PCDB and SAP Appendix Q listed
What it is best used for
Four and five bedroom houses with up to seven wet rooms plus a kitchen, wall mounted in a utility, plant room or cupboard. Its specific fan power stays low across the range, 0.60 to 1.24 W/(l/s) in the SAP data.
Heat exchange efficiency is lower than the HAVA280V and HAVA550V at the same settings (84% at kitchen plus 1), so if SAP efficiency matters more than fan power compare those first.
Why choose this over alternatives
MVHR keeps an airtight new build or deep retrofit ventilated around the clock while recovering most of the heat that trickle vents and extract fans throw away, which helps with Part F and the SAP assessment. The HAVA400V adds night mode, holiday mode and a weekly timer on the supplied LCD controller, so occupants can run it quietly overnight without switching it off.
The Elta HAVA550V shares the same 861 x 778 x 549mm casing but moves up to 153 l/s with heat exchange of 87 to 90% in the SAP data.
Installation notes
- Mount indoors in a heated space, vertically on a flat wall that carries its weight. It must be vertical for the condensate drainage to work.
- Connect a G 3/4 inch condensate drain joint through a U-bend or dry trap and plug the unused one. Leave access to the filters and inspection doors.
- The outside air connections can be handed left or right: change the orientation in the CTRL-DSP installer menu and swap the duct and drain labels supplied.
- Connect the CTRL-DSP with a 4 core twisted pair cable up to 30m. A humidity or air quality sensor on the IAQ input raises the speed by 15%.
- Insulate the ductwork to local regulations, commission the supply and extract rates, and clean the heat exchanger once a year with a vacuum cleaner.
You'll also need
- Elta SEN-HY-I wall mounted humidity sensor wires to the unit's volt free sensor input to boost ventilation when humidity rises.
- F7 (ISO ePM1 60%) filters available on request for better supply air filtration, ask us.
